Description As a Bronze Age fan, every time I think about Superman I "see" him as drawn by guys like Curt Swan and Jose Luis Garcia Lopez (John Byrne and George Perez are favorites too, but from a later time). But as I grown older I learned to respect Wayne Boring (the main Superman artist in the 50's). So, I tried my best to emulate his style on this image, as a little homage.
Pencils, inks and Photoshop colors by yours truly. Background image from a "Superman Gallery" comic by Boring.

I'm more a Curt Swan fan, but Boring is one of the quintessential Superman artists. His version still influence Superman artists, like Jerry Ordway.

Hmm, nice going here, I'm guessing this is a live trace? But even so, it looks pretty good.

Ahh, Wayne Boring, never has a last name been so appropriate

Nope. I penciled and inked it on paper and scanned to my PC. I used Photoshop to make minor changes (had a hard time to get the right face) and colored it.

Oh, in that case, well done indeed! I quite like it
The only thing I might suggest is adding perhaps some extra bits of shading along with the hatching you already have, then it'd be great ^^

Thanks. I tried to emulate the Silver Age coloring style, so I didn't used shading.

Nice work, I remember the old 50's and early to mid 60's Sups! My cousin who was an artist had 2 big file cabinets full of comics! I used to snick in his room to read his comics all of the time! Great job!

When I saw Wayne Boring I thought it meant Batman's Bruce Wayne is boring!!! Which I wouldn't object to, since I prefer Superman. But nice to know about an old comic artist hehehe

Boring's style is very larger than life, and it works very well for Superman.

It's very ironic that 'boring' can be this cool.

Agreed. While Boring's work wasn't as plastic as Swan's or dynamic like Kirby's he had an unique, iconic take on Superman.

I don't think "cute" is the word, but maybe Lois could agree with you.
