Hello!

I think you did a great job withe this vase. The pattern of the vies and clumps of green come together nicely and frames the vase itself very nicely. I think the little dragon is lively and cute. The over all effect is one of serenity and vitality. And that's a very nice and warm feeling.

The only downside to this wonderful piece that I can think of is the actual photography. I think the glass beads and the bright green background is too over-powering for the presentation of this vase. It's actually hard to see the vase itself. The colour of the little dragon seem to blend into the beads and the clump of green he is nestling on, too. So it is still a wonderful piece of work, but some little changes would probably make it even better!

Thanks so much for the compliments, and I wish i could have provided a better background, but i don't really have many photo worthy areas of my house. i take all my pictures on our kitchen stone or counters and use whatever i have on hand to hide the backgrounds if needed.

You're welcome!

I hear you, it's not easy to find a good place to take photos. I think the thing that upsets this piece the most is the bright green background. If you are using the kitchen counter, you might consider buying a set of bristol boards or construction papers of different colours. That way you can use a colour that will complement your work as the backdrop and still use the same counter space. It's not much, but it's definitely a cheaper way to achieve a specific goal.

... maybe that will help?

oh yes, that sounds like a good idea actually. I know you can get them pretty cheap at dollar stores. I'll keep that in mind with my next pieces

What a beautiful little guy he's adorable! those iridescent stones you added inside the jar made me think that he's sleeping over jewels, it's a beautiful composition to make him stand out

Thanks, means a lot to hear someone say something like that. Besides the rocks that are inside now, i think some white roses or some other flower with clear stones would also make him pop more.

They are decorative glass rock things. Don't know the actual name of them but i found them in the craft store.

Aww! He reminds me of a Terrible Terror from How to Train Your Dragon! He's sooo cute!!! Did you use TLS or Bake n bond to keep the clay attached to the glass?

Not for this one, the clay stuck well enough on its own. However i did glaze the clay and the glass around it to help seal it in place.

Ooooh! Ok! I am constantly battling the idea of if I add TLS/Bake n Bond or if I just stick it to the glass.

well it depends on how sticky your clay is on its own. I always use TLS when needed, i feel its basically the same as bake n bond but thats just my opinion. whatever you use if up to you. But if your clay isn't to sticky, TLS wouldn't hurt, just apply small amounts when needed.

Oooh Ok. I don't cover glass a lot because I primarily make sculptures but I always found that I'd get air bubbles with TLS and wasn't sure if I show really be adding it. Thanks!

I've ever really had bubbles show, what i do it put some either on my finger or on the clay and rub it in that way to make sure it covers the underside of the clay and glass. Maybe the air bubbles are from adding to much?
