Description Materials: Prismacolor pencils
Prismacolor watercolor pencils
Gouache
and lastly, Titanium White Acrylic
Time: ????

A picture I have been working on for several months but I haven't had the opportunity to finish until now. At the time all of the mediums seemed necessary to me. It was a bit of a practice in getting the colors right. One lesson learned was that you don't have to always use black for shading. Blue or violet is perfectly acceptable. The colors are still a bit off but I'm getting better at it. He's a Eurasian Eagle Owl and one of my best pictures yet.

Here is the original: Natural History Eurasian Eagle Owl

Enjoy!

Hey thanks
It's amazing what a difference some instruction in color theory makes.
By the way I absolutely adore the rooster painting you made. Your paintings have an impressionistic feel to them.

Heh now I have the constant bombardment of other ideas for pictures pestering me.
I really appreciate the help with scanning and linking. I'm slow when it comes to that.
He needs his spotlight cause like everything else I do he probably won't get the opportunity to be hung up somewhere for quite some time. I'll probably eventually take it to that lizard prints place to prove I can actually work in color.
Thank you!

You can try a million time favorite...I'm not sure what will happen.

I got really impatient toward the end and came so close to ripping a hole in it. I have to admit, I'm also a sucker for cover images. They always seem to put the best ones on the covers. They don't use stickers anymore and I remember peeling them off. Now it's all printed on there. Frustrations on paper aside, I'm so happy with how it turned out. The next will be better.

xD BOOM.

Yikes! But I know that frustration well. I just went through that for about 3 weeks with every project I started. *hugs* I really like those images you do. Myself? I've never been good at animals. I did do one wolf face for my mom for her graduation but it took a month to complete .w.;; And that was just pencil and paper!

Just never give up! <3 It turned out very nice and you have a very good and beautiful talent.

Despite what people want to say, wolves are very difficult to depict. There is something especially strange about the facial features and the layering of the fur.
The ones I see on this site most of the time do not look like real wolves well except for the photographs...and the super contrived realism ones...
It all takes practice. Also helps to be around the actual thing sometimes too. Seeing a real owl, the one my mom and the cat scared out, gave me the inspiration needed to finish. By the time my class was over I was ready and had nothing but time on my hands to get it done.
I won't give up as long as you won't either.

My inspiration of wolves comes from mom's love of wolves. We have tons of pictures of wolves that used to be in our house in Kentucky. I've always wanted to go to a Wolf Sanctuary like my friend did. ;w; I wanna play with wolves...

Oh wow. I haven't seen our owls. There's three of them though and they surround our house. I both love it and hate it.

No giving up then! <3 Because I'm not going to!
