I was thinking about a piece submitted by pr0jectz [link] titled "mystical inclinations" [link] , which was a piece done about achetypical 'mystic'. I was more outspoken that usual in my critisism of this piece and I started thinking about how I would depict a 'mystic'.I decided that if I were to do this, the mystic would have to be a self flaggellating fool, inflicting pain on himself in the ultimately futile pursuit of 'truth'.
A step removed from 'the mystic' would be the enlightened one, one who began the mystical journey the same as the other, and acutally discovered the 'truth'. The 'truth' being that there is no 'truth'. Thus, he quits flagellating himself and just enjoys what there is to enjoy and experiences what there is to experience before he dies.
The true religion, the only temple he might worship at, is the Temple of Nothing.
(i just happen to have painted that picture already, i may still pursue the mystic as a photo manip becuae it would be fun).
thats just my spin on it, i could be wrong, but i dont care.

i am not sure that i can agree with the thinking but then again who knows? i guess i am still the fool who likes to inflict the pain on my self so its hard to see the other side

There was this artist, prominent in the sixties and seventies I believe, named Peter Max. He was enormously popular. This reminds me of his work. I think he designed the Beatles' "Yellow Submarine" animated feature.
