During highschool I my interest in comics was at an all time low. Then one fateful day while walking past a convenience store I saw something that changed my life. A copy of Uncanny X-Men 337 that changed my life. That was drawn by none other than Joe Madurera.

My tastes have changed since then. At the very top of the list of artists who have influenced me, inspired me, and motivate me to challenge myself every time I pick up a pencil is Adam Hughes. I've learned to accept that I'll never do what Mr. Hughes does, and you should too. Its pointless to obsess over how we'll never be as good a drawer as he. Instead be inspired by ever new work of art that he gifts to us, and know that he's thinking the same thing about his own work as we do with ours.

Some people may thing this is blatant ass kissing. If you've one of them, go f*** yourself. I've learned the importance of showing appriciation to the teachers in our lives, be it a friend, a teacher, peer, co-worker, or in this case, a guy who lives thousands of miles away and makes art that he shares on the interwebs with us all. Aside from watching the youtube tutorials, after I'm done gawking, I study his work.
