Description Whaddya know, the cloud render does have a use. I made this while listening to Eternal Flames (Not Bangles Eternal Flame). Decided that it made sense with Erica's character later on, so why not?

My smudge brush takes forever since my computer sucks, so I ad to use a fire filter, and the bg is just a red and orange cloud filter underneath a black and white cloud filter that was messed with in the layer blends mode.

Had to edit this. Sorry if it shows up in your message thingy. >.>;

Yup. Flames are awesome. The cloudy BG is wow-ness! The charcter's pose is quite nice as well!

Wow that's an extremely gorgeous coloration of fire in motion! The orange flames look like faith. The character is nicely shaded with the lighting of the fire. The 3d colors are of a nice touch. The feeling is deeply moved and is very precious. Good job!

Nah, her head is actually the correct size for the style I made her, but the shading is really off. She's lighter above then the shading gets too dark. It would be okay is all the firelight was coming from behind her, but it isn't. x.X So it looks funny.

the flames are really pretty and the back ground looks bad ass! >.> but uhhh not to burst your bubble but i think her head maybe a bit to big. ^_^ but she still looks really good! cloud render never works right for me. X_x stupid filter complications...

Holy Cow! Amazing work!!! Love the effect and the ...hot... colors!

BTW, does the girl have "cat" ears or itΒ΄s just a hair ornament? O.o

And it would make a great poster or cd cover

Thanks! My boyfriend said it'd make a great poster as well. I guess using it as a desktop wallpaper is close enough though. ^-^;

Woah! How does the cloud render do that? I must know.

Man, this looks awesome. ^_^

Thanks.

What I did is have orange and red as the fore and background colors for the cloud render, then on a layer right above, have white and black as the colors and render again. Then I multiplied the above layer in the layer blends dropdown.

My original goal in doing that was to create a firey yet dark bg, but it ended up looking like smoke, which seems to have worked well enough. ^-^;

I'm using Photoshop, but I used Eyecandy 4000 for the fire. The only part that was originally drawn on paper was the girl.

You really have to do tutorials! Or well just for me... ^_^ I really want to be able to CG like you! I love this picture, and it deserves my love!

kiananight In reply to three-of-swords [2003-11-19 23:06:22 +0000 UTC]

Heh, believe me, you don't want to follow a tutorial by me. @.x it'd require you to sit there for two hours tracing the whole pic with the line tool, while that process takes a whole two minutes for everyone else. O.o;; But, as for the coloring, it's just a basic color that's applied underneath an inked layer then shaded and lighted using the dodge and burn tools. It's just the fire that I had to use an outside plug in for. x.X
