“I bet you’re a deer,” Gianno’s voice broke the uncomfortable silence as they both approached the glistening pool. “Naaah, isn’t a deer wise? You may gentle my friend, but you’re still have a pup’s soul.” The cave carried a mixture of fascination and uncanniness, entering these walls was almost like entering another world. Nothing was familiar, not the smell, not the crusty earth, even the lighting seemed to make little sense as it flickered from geode to geode. The man wasn’t exactly the most spiritual person, yet there was something unearthly compelling about the area.

Sputnik seemed far more at ease, taking the lead and showing an uncharacteristic calmness. Gianno had been given the instructions from a local, however it seemed that the Yeti almost knew what to instinctively without his help. The Tokota stopped at the water’s edge, staring down at his turquoise lit face.

“No, I think you’re a wolf,” the handler said with some satisfaction, not noticing his companion was all but ignoring him. “You’re loyal, and fearless! Perhaps more than you should be…anyways they said we have to drink the water…” He stopped, looking down. Sure the water looked interesting, but what exactly was in it? It had to be safe he guessed...no one had died yet right? All it did was make you hallucinate…

Sputnik loud lapping interrupted the handler’s thought process. Were they supposed to drink at the same time? At least he didn’t seem to be dead…that was enough encouragement for the man as he knelt down, cupping the water with his hands. He then backed up a couple steps, not wanting to accidently fall in case the visions took a nasty turn. The seemed impatient with him, lying down and awaiting what was to come next. Gianno soon followed, although he was more than happy to allow his companion to rest between him and the water.

“An eagle…?” Gianno sputtered confused. Maybe he wasn’t tuned into the right hallucination…? Sputnik’s uncharacteristically serious face softened into a normal goofy smile, his eyes glistening excitedly from under all that fuzz. “I just mean…no offense bud, but I didn’t think you were the sharpest icicle on the roof…” his rambling were cut short by a large screech.

Humans are insufferably short-sighted – quiet you.

“Jeeze, your totem has attitude…” Gianno snickered as he whispered into his friend’s ear. Sputnik seemed to ignore him, focusing entirely on the ghostly creature before him. The yeti’s tail even thumped back and forth a few times in excitement as the eagle let out another deafening screech. “Okay, okay, I’ll shut up!” Appeased, the totem continued.

Sputnik – your freedom is what draws me to you. You were offered a simple easy life as a herd-dog, and yet you never let that hold you back. Instead you have embraced all that you are and all that the world has to offer. You have broken free from the chains of a set path and forged a new one, and are living proof that freedom comes from all shapes and sizes. Even within the confines of your farm you find joy and escapadism in what others may find mundane. I am your guardian of adventure, of individuality, and of guidance, and I am happy that you have chosen to embrace me.

…And as for intellect, you are clearly more gifted in that than your pet human.

“Hey!” With that the creature seemed to dissipate like illuminated rain back into the pool it once emerged.

Sooooo excited about this! Honestly I can't thank everyone who has contributed to him becoming dominant enough You guys are so amazing <333

I've been struggling over what totem to pick for him for the longest time. There seemed two really obvious choices: deer - he's the gentle giant with an affinity to hooved friends, and wolf - he's a loyal farm companion to the max. I was really stuck between the two when I realized that neither really reflect the growth he has gone through. I really like the idea of his totem to be a symbol of his journey made, and his growth as a character, and I think an eagle is a good fit

Also Gianno isn't normally this much of a jerk xD (other than perhaps when it comes to shaving poor Sputnik). He's just a bit out of his comfort zone, and unlike his Tokota, he never really embraced the whole crazy adventure thing. Also he's probably high out of his mind xD I love the idea that him and the Totem not getting along, as she also represents the thing that Gianno never quite could grasp. I do plan on carrying this on to the eagle they relieve, so expect a lot of ruffled feathers from the two of them.
