he said that composition was strong, but value and organization needs work and that my hatching needed lots of work, and that the lines in the feet and fabric of the gown looked awkward. he liked it tho, he said it was ambitious

You could of probably made the character take up a bit more room, unless you wanted her to seemed overwhelm by all the shit around her. though the open ended wall at top kind of deflates that feeling.

naw i wanted the character to seem small and very alone, and the open space is just supposed to emphasize emptiness and loneliness.

a lot of your illustrations lately have been great character illustrations. With this the background is almost the star, and I was curious why you decided to not do a more character focused illustration. Just questions in my mind.

for this i wanted to convey a mood more than focus on a character, it was a change but i liked doing it coz it made me pay attention to the whole piece and gave me a better opportunity to explore compositional decisions. i wanted to work on using references more too, cept for the girl, i used references on all the objects in this painting. in back is a dialysis machine, in front of that is a respiratory machine, and i based the chair off of a few pictures. it was really helpful. im planning on doing more of these now, and since mikes here, we're working on a comic now.
