Personality: Confident Clever Forthright Poised Calculated Focused Resentful Difficult Impulsive
Sawyer is confident in herself and her abilities, it makes it easy for her to explain her ideas well. She is hardly nervous or timid about her ideas because she knows she is intelligent. If there is some kind of problem that arises with this, she is forthright. Not necessarily blunt, but she is open enough to stop a problem or at least, try to communicate... If she sees you are trying to hide something from her she will acknowledge it, but she won't pry. She has more important things to do.
Being raised in a family with high standards and expectations, Sawyer is calculated and poised with her emotions. If she doesn't like you, she isn't going to make a scene. Most of the time she understands her place in the hierarchy of the world and if she is talking to an Alpha or Superior, she can and will give them the respect they earned. She is also very focused when it comes to what she is doing, good or bad. If she has a mission she tends to want to finish it and focuses on doing the best job she can.
While Sawyer is good at presenting herself, she can sometimes lose her cool. Often she is resentful of those who can do... more than her. As someone who is disabled, she gets pretty resentful of people who can just 'do it all'. This also makes her difficult in certain situations where she probably shouldn't do something, but it MUST be done. And lastly, she is impulsive, if she feels the need to prove herself over something stupid she will do it. She can't 1v1 duel you in a swordfight, but she will try her hardest, even if it hurts her in the long run.

History:
House Pride was a noble house, one that had a sizable fortune. They were bankers and accountants, managers of money. Not only were they rich, but they held a heavy respect because one doesn’t disrespect the clerk handling your finances. Not only did they have their own bank, but often the children from House Pride were hired to take up finances for other notable houses.
However there was a dark side to the house and that relied on the genes. They made an error in the past, by not forcing their children to continue their line. Some members of the family had run off to those of lower standing and had been promptly kicked from their house, but the majority of Pride Members had joined the military and had died before they could marry. Bankers were not made for the brute of the war… So the house learned to adapt.
The two heiresses of the house split off and both married to revitalize the house. Sawyer’s mother, Harriet, was the reigning Alpha and a skilled shadow, though one of her flaws was that she had poor fertility. Medics told her over and over again that she would never have children, but low and behold, Sawyer was born.
Finally, they had been blessed with a daughter… One who stopped breathing the moment she was born. The entire room had been a whirl of panic when the baby they had spent YEARS trying for, was dying. The medics were able to resuscitate the newborn, but they didn’t expect it to last long. Not only was she weak, but she was plagued with illness.
They said she wasn’t going to live past a year. Then it was 5 years. Then it was 10… Eventually, her parents sent away those doctors, because their daughter somehow seemed to keep defying these expiration dates. The moment she was born there was something different about her. Aside from the stark white hair, she had been blessed with, there was this fire in her eyes.
Her mother had tried relentlessly for years to have a child and after multiple miscarriages, Sawyer was their saving grace. They loved her endlessly through her childhood… Perhaps a bit too much. They kept her isolated and sheltered to assure her health, but that made her restless. When her blood was tested, she excelled and held a charge long enough that they called her gifted. How funny that you could be both gifted and cursed.
As a child, Sawyer was immediately singled out for her poor health. She was just another weak link that would die early in the war. It was easier to point her out when she had her cane near her to keep her upright… In her early years, the little lioness got into plenty of fights, but swinging her cane at those who had heckled her. It was less anger and more desperation, as nothing he could say would deter them.
Then Sawyer stopped trying to bring her cane out where she went, which only made her health decline. With no support, her body suffered the consequences and her parents were highly displeased. The disease made her bones feel like glass at times and you couldn’t support a whole body on glass alone. Her parents had to reason with her, she needed some kind of solid support to walk with. Eventually, they came to the agreement of an umbrella. At first, the idea seemed silly, but Sawyer would not be seen carrying around a cane.
The umbrella was a way to hide the support she needed and seemed more like an item she carried around as a product of wealth and privilege. Who else carried around an umbrella in the middle of the day with the sun out? Only rich people blocked the sunlight from burning their precious faces. But the sneers were far better than any look of pity, or any heckling of being weak… Being frowned upon for being upper class was a far better fate than those who would have brought her down for her health.
Eventually, time went on and Sawyer found that this wasn’t a world where you made many friends. So she focused on her studies and powered through to become the best she could. At the age of 16 she had wanted to enlist, get her years down and prove to her parents that she was plenty strong enough, but they refused. They physically kept her from enlisting and she was rather furious… In her eyes, they were keeping her from trying and putting forth all those years of studying to good use… But what they saw were all the lives of previous family members lost and no children to carry their legacy so they stopped her.
Sawyer has only recently enlisted, about 3 years later… She is determined to prove herself to be a strong Sigilmancer and to make her family proud.
