Just keep calm, take your time. Rushing because things aren't going well only makes it worse. I nearly knocked wing mirrors off several times. =v=;;;
But reversing can be tricky, I agree. You should never need to reverse quickly, so go slowly, keep looking around, and you'll be fine. <3

I used to do that because I can get really panicky when I suddenly notice things or think I'm approaching corners or junctions too quickly. But realising that brakes are actually pretty sharp, you get used to the fact you just have to ease onto them and you relax too. Hope it's going well for you now. >v
