Here are some fakemon starters. I didn't plan their designs so much, but i like them quite a lot. I hope they're enough unique.I haven't thinked of the names yet, except fire starter's.
Water starter - ?
will evolve into somekind of sealion. It will be ice and water type.
Grass starter - ?
is a fox. It may evolve into a wolf, or something.
Fire starter - Buramp
Will evolve into a sheep (like in zodiac), or something.
I don't know if i draw the whole evolution line for these guys... Probably not, but who knows?

If anything I think you should make the grass starter a representation of the base of the wolf family tree, something basil to all wolves, like a wolverine since bears and dogs are related, but wolverine would represent the basil form between those two groups.
All grass starters are representative of an extinct animal on the tree of like like a dinosaur or mammal like reptile like the first four starters where, and Snivy's line being a literal reference to the evolution of lizards into snakes.
So if you want to do something with canids, go back in taxonomy and find animals that represent an early version of the dog or a primative version or an cladistic representative of the dog family.
