That's funny... My first AD&D character ever looked just like this! She didn't wield a mace, though, and her coat of arms was different.

The character together with the weapon/shield reminds me of Soul Calibur 2. Which is a plus, since it's a great game.

This is really good. It's nice to see a female character 'fully' clothed, rather than showing bare legs and torso, because, seriously (and realistically) if you're a warrior/fighter, you need as much armour and/ or coverage as possible to protect you... especially in colder weather. I love the armour and the pose is really striking. The composition and colouring of the piece is great and the details of the piece are excellent. I know nothing of armour really, I tend to 'make up' the armour or try to reference from actual armour when and if I have ever drawn picture with a character bearing armour. Your piece is superb and looks very accurate.
I can definatley see this on a trading card! She reminds me of one of the characters from Soul Calibur (Sophitia I think or Cassandra.. pretty much the same) This is a good comparisson as i could definately see this character in a game also.

She's very pretty, the piece is well done, and I've actually got a character for a game in mind that this captures pretty well, but I have to take issues with the design of her armor. Armor for women is a pet peeve of mine--I have several concepts for NPC women who wear heavy armor in my game words. But I would like to keep that armor looking vaguely practical, and finding images with women in proper armor is frustratingly difficult for reasons this piece highlights rather well.
The first problem here is that her breastplate doesn't cover her midriff. Now, this is mitigated somewhat in this piece by her actually having a shirt over it, and for that I thank you: warrior women with bare bellies send me into raving rages. (Exceptions made for armorless warriors, often of the martial artist persuasion. Also, woo alliteration.) The shirt is a pretty shade of blue that connects with the sky well and is well textured, but WHY is she not covering that gigantic target in her torso with all those tasty vital organs? Sure, you'll die if your heart gets skewered, but you're not gonna get very far without your intestines and liver and all the other squishy bits in one's midriff either.
Speaking of her heart: the chestpiece. At the risk of being crude: yes, women have breasts. In fact, hers look to be pretty nice. But accommodation for them in armor should to be minimal at best for the sake of effectiveness of the armor. Ideally, her chest is bound to the point that the shape of the chestpiece would be basically the same as a man's. If one MUST make accommodations for a woman's chest in her plate armor, making it a single bump rather than two is the way to go I think. The purpose of armor is to deflect blades away from the person; on the inner portions of that chestpiece a blade would be directed TOWARDS the person instead, a problem multiplied by the lack of torso and arm protection.
The bare-ish arms aren't as big an issue. In one's standard pseudo-medieval fantasy setting, a lack of armor over the arms can be justified for caster types who might need their arms unhindered for the sake of casting spells. She strikes me as a cleric-type of character, so that could reasonable be an issue that calls for a sacrifice of arm protection.
Let me reiterate: The piece is good and in spite of the previous three paragraphs that might suggest otherwise, I do actually LIKE it. Keep up the good work. I'd just like to see more women with armor that might actually provide adequate battlefield protection.

Wow, that is really awesome. Very very impressive. The colour is bright and vibrant. The brushes you used just gives it some air, and really places the character in the environment. The choice of colours really stand out and looks fantastic.
Definitely derserves a fave.
