for digital, my tablet us a cintiq companion, and the program i use usually is Clip studio paint xD For traditional, i use watercolour, pencil and in this picture, i used ballpoint pen, and photoshopped it a little so its kinda mixed media in this one.

I used Wacom Intuos 4 for digital, with PaintTool SAI and Photoshop CS6 (may update the Photoshop later). I tried Clip Paint Studio before but not sure whether I liked it or not because of the complicated UI, and it seems CPS cannot convert the file into psd. file, which is a disadvantage. I'm not sure if there is anyway or not. I'm still looking for some CPS tutorial to start getting used to with the program. Do you know if there is any?Β
For traditional, I only use pencil for sketching. I do make pencil/charcoal drawings in my art classes but it's not really my favorite media since I tend to mess up a lot *Lol* Well I like something cleaner and tidier, but I still like graphic pencil drawings.
I mostly use ink, markers (alcohol based and water based), colored pencils, watercolor (well, just a small pocket set), sometimes acrylic paint, charcoal, pastel, etc. because of the requirement in the class.Β

Ahh for digital i prefer doing it in painty and messy style because I'm not all that good with line art and all the neat stuff XD for editing and effects, i also use photoshop CS6. CSP is alot like SAI to me, but with a lot more features i guess. And im pretty sure it can convert to psd. because thats what i usually do for my pixel art, since i need to animate it using Photoshop. But for some reasons, CSP wouldn't open the PSD file from the contest, so i had to copy the layers directly from CSP to photoshop haha xD The website has a lot of speed paints, step by step, and tutorialsΒ www.clipstudio.net/en/howto
Also CSP lets you import models, screentone and a lot of other stuff, its also kind of like a manga studio but I've never played around with all those things yet haha.
Ahh markers! Do you use copic? I have markers too but i rarely use them because its not really my type of media. Forgot to mention i also love working with ink. I dont have a lot of colours yet so theyre mostly monochrome artworks

You are completely opposite to me hahah. While I also like painting and messy stuff so badly, my head always direct at lineart and neat stuff. Still wish to find a way to fix that habit of thinking q______q

I see. It's a lot more convenient. SAI is good, but it's more like a manual tool where you do everything with tablet and hand and not with a button or command from menu bar xD. That is why when people ask how I do the effect, I only say that I'm playing around with luminous mode, opacity and my pressure Lol. I guess I'm slower about the tech aspect xD
Well, yeah, I use Copic, Prisma and Tombow. I really like the smooth lay down when using alcohol marker. It gives me the feeling of my digital coloring, but more natural. But of course, it also depends on the kind of paper. Some paper really ruin the quality of good markers.
About inking, I also only work with black ink Lol. I love sepia and burnt sienna too. Think about trying them someday xD .
Yeah, in digital painting, it's a good thing when teachers do not ask for specific media. I mean in traditional art classes. However, I guess that's not a bad idea when we know how to use more media than what we usually use

I was never bothered to get bleed proof paper so my marker works were a little... meh ;w; and yes! i use to play around with alot of different media in art class but now i just want to focus on some specific media. and for ink, i use them like watercolor, and i have sepia and burnt sienna and oh my god they are amazing ;3;
and also i agree! Im not good with the tech aspect ahh xwx even though i use CSP i do things like i would on SAI haha. Everytime I'm inspired by some artists work, i try to change my art to either messier, or really neat, and it never works well for me x'D I have to stick to my own level of messiness LOL.
BY THE WAY! have you ever thought about maybe making an illustration book? I was planning on making an elsword fan art book but ehhhh dont know if my art is good enough xwxΒ

Btw, I have a small question? Which brand name of watercolor you are using? Do you have any review for it? I'm try to get a set of watercolor but not sure which one I should choose.
Hahah, I see. I can adjust my style to mimic some artists' style, but I can only do that when I'm in the peak of my mood or inspiration, and more than often, later I never remember how I did that style (my artwork of VC is an obvious example for that T_T). But then again, yeah, old habits die hard Lol
Yeah, I used to think of making an illustration book. However, i have my suspect if I can do it because of my busy time. Right now, I still wish that I have more time to complete an artwork completely. I have a mountain of WIP already Q_________Q But yeah, really an illustration book is an awesome idea. And don't worry about your art. You will get better and better through time and time and when you look back, you will be surprised how much you have improved Lol. Be confident.
Ah, collab. It's a great idea. I hope so. Right now I have one partner for collaboration. You know Takezoku on Elsword's forum? He's the one. At this moment, I and he are working on a fiction series together and our project relates to Elsword, but it's not like going straight from Elsword. There's no Els, no Aisha, no Rena, but our in-game characters that we make them our OC xD Actually, the process can be seen as an achievement now. We got it quite far, but only a few people read it because of its restricting content Lol

Ahhh I use winsor and newtons watercolours (kinda expensive tho so i got them when there was a sale ;'D). The colours are pretty nice but if you want strong and bright colours, i suggest using watercolour paints instead of the palette ones. For paints, i use Sakura Mat watercolour set (the 12 colour one). The thing about watercolour paints is that the colour palettes are kinda weird. The red is either too orange or too purple. sometimes i borrow watercolour from school, and there is this round dish palette like this: www.google.com.au/search?q=rou⦠That i use, and the colours are quite strong. TBH i havent watercoloured in a while and i really want to >A<
AHH talking about mountains of WIP i can totally relate TwT Im so sure ill make an illustration book in the future, but maybe after this year since its my last year in highschool ;w; TIME IS ALWAYS SUCH A POTATO. (also procrastination)

Oh, same as me. I also use winsor and newton, just recently got my winsor cotman with 12 half pan colors. I like them so much, but wish I could have more colors so it'll be easier to blend xD. Actually, I have never used half pan/dish palette before. Back to... maybe ten years ago, I only used watercolor tubes or small bottles for my drawings (with much cheaper brands for them cuz I don't think I needed high-quality for just kid's drawings Lol). About the price, I heard that even though winsor is expensive, they are still cheaper than other brand names. I have somebody suggesting me to use gansai tambi, or Sakura Koi (yeah, same company with your Sakura Mat xD). Both have good quality for student grade watercolors, sometimes even better than winsor, but they are more expensive than winsor a bit, so I'm still thinking about that. Β
Well, pans/palettes is supposed to be completely hard when dry, so when you want to use them, you have to give them water to make the pigment melt. So much water can reduce the concentration of the pigment. That's is why the color got brighter a lot. While when you use tubes/paints, they are mostly in concentrated form, but not hard dry. so just a little water is enough to get the pigment and put it on your paper. That's why the colors are much better preserved. That's my opinion after using two kinds of watercolors.Β
Oh, and the paper is also the matter. Cold press paper tends to give duller, less vivid colors than hot press paper xD

So I use every bit of my free time to draw, like lunch time, short break time between two classes... And I guess I'll be busier cuz this year is my first year in university after transferring from 2 years college.

Dammmm art supplies are expensive D: My poor wallet really cant handle. I like the fact that palettes are dry so i can just use them at school in class instead of having to squeeze paint out. Also do you use the brushes with water in them? Theyre pretty convenient but some techniques cant really be done using them so ;w;
for paper, i use canson montvale, its pretty absorbent and doesnt crinkle much, but the bumpiness (forgot the word for it LOL) really bothers me ;3;

yeah, I have a medium water brush of Pentel. It's good but as you say, it's not a god-like tool Lol
Oh, I use Fluid watercolor cold press paper. It has texture and easy to lay down. I haven't used Canson for watercolor but I think if I can afford, I may try it someday xD
Btw, gratz on your winning entry, even though it's not 1st place xD. Honestly, I'm extremely disappointed on the 1st winners. It looks like KoG just randomly picked an entry or two for that because I saw more and more better quality than those two (including yours) that deserve to be on the showcase. You know they are rushed to a point that screw everything up. Let's look back the previous ElDoodle when they spent the whole week just to pick the winners.Β

Honetsly i didnt care about the k-ching, i just wanted to see my works on the login screen u___u (or loading) But holy, what even KoG. I dont think I'll enter anymore eldoodles. Maybe I'll enter the costume comp and lose again LOL but honestly, its really not worth it anymore. unless im not bothered to load up k-ching or something then i would try to win. Doing adoptables are much much better than entering an art comp they dont even choose winners properly in. at least im guaranteed to earn something from adopts lol... And 50 dollars worth of k-ching isnt even real money. Last year inΒ the 4th anniversary comp, they gave out 100 dollars worth SO WHY. THIS LABOUR ;W;

Oh PLEASE calm down ;w;. Actually, I had some analysis about the contest this time. I hope you read it ;w; (cuz I realize there are some problems this time as I saw, and didn't see before). Sorry for the long and tedious post first. But please read it carefully
1. Plz don't blame GM Crow. He's actually a much better judge than Cuddles. Unfortunately, I believe he's not the judge of the contest this time. Why? At first, I was also raged and disappointed at the bs result. But then, right after that, he sent me a PM, and guessed what he wrote for me? He said that unfortunately my entry wasn't chosen by the judges, but he knew how much effort sb poured into an entry. So he personally gave me 15 IB, and then, without my knowing, he "secretly" gave me 500 KC as well (and if you sum up, it's totally 2000 KC literally). I don't mean about the consolation award here (not sure if he wrote this for other contestants also), but after I saw his message, I started to feel weird about the judges of the contests. Judging from his taste and his way of holding events (obviously the 3 previous most recent ElDoodle was hosted by him), there's a high chance that he's not the judge and pick the winners. GM Crow's taste for an entry (in this kind of contest, artwork) is clear, neat, innovative. He doesn't pay much attention on how much complex an entry is, but it needs to have show serious effort and st "special", also not a bunch of random thing that was thrown into an entry without purpose. He works based on logic more than emotions, and follow disciples. As you may notice, when he picks winners, he's very careful and does not gives haste decisions just in a few hours. From previous ElDoodle (Lanox, LuCiel, Chung-Eve renewal), I think I figured out his style. The only weird decision he made is on Hakilala's entry from the latest ElDoodle, but I think I know the answer and hope that it's a mistake for his judgment. Well, that entry, I understand it more thoroughly than anyone else cuz I was involved with it. Btw, if he's truly honest, then I think I know the reason.
Also, if he's really the one who behind the contests this time, there will be no point for him to secretly PM and send the rewards to the contestants without announce it on the thread after even a complaint of "being unfair" from somebody was posted (I think you saw that post). KoG tends to ignore players' opinion, remember. So this properly is not the work of an individual.
Generally, everything is contradicted with what I haven seen about him.
2. This kind of contest is the same as costume contests and even last year anniversary contest. The judges may be a group of people (well, including a bunch of suckers at fine art and design maybe) or somebody else we do not know but are certain that he/she is not Cuddles or GM Crow, who made the thread (they might have just a small role). It has high possibility to happen I believe. You know, amongst the GM, there was a GM called GM Srirachalada, who hosted Fb contest for Elsword. Believe me, her/his taste sucks like hell and he/she doesn't follow the rules that she herself have given. The result of fb contests are extremely bullshit, sometimes the entries is like randomly pick without being taken a look because they dont have anything related to the topic, and just rubbish pieces made by rookies. That's just an example, but you see the bottom line that I mean here. So if this contest or previous important contests that was held with rush deadlines, there might never have any proper judgment. The previous 4th anniversary is bullshit enough to me anyway, and even Costume Contests (I can give you my analysis later). But this one obviously involved RNG system. It was like they didn't have time, so they just marked the entry based on number, and RNG it like we do with the IB. I won't take the the example of login screen, because it's too obvious that they only RNG, or only just pick the entries with all characters that shows faces clearly and "equally size", regardless of good proportion, good composition, good coloring, good effect or whatever it is (I think you realize this dullness and stupidity with the 1st winner's entry). Besides, as you know too well, this game has another name of "Elscest", so the bullshit incest couple will win no matter the quality it is (this reason is what I hate to look at the story of this game from ss2). Just make them big at the center and your work will have the high chance to be shown in the game.
Back to the matter, the obvious example is the loading screen. We know that there are not so many loading screens in the contest cuz people are too into the login screens. You said that you made your entry traditionally, so we can take it aside if we assume that they only want the digital ones (plz dont misunderstand, I dont mean to offense here, just look at things generally and their stupid motifs). But then again, if it's only for digital, then I think even a blind person at art also see that only Blanche's entry stands out more than any digital ones that have been submitted for the contest. The quality amongst loading screens is too obvious to notice. Let's see the what they pick for the 1st winner. Certainly a rookie drew it. No composition, no proportion, general quality is "wtf", no knowledge in shading, lighting or effect... just a bunch of things were randomly threw in. Well, GG KoG. That kind of stupid quality, any of us who have been drawn in years can easily make and throw into the trash can because it only shows noob level.
3. About Cuddles, honestly I don't like her, or to be exact, the way she works and judges, though I received from her a lot also (I got a bunch of KC from KoG thanks to Cuddles only). Like any female, her working style bases more on emotions than logic well, I'm also talking about myself here too cuz I'm also a female Lol, and that, in a long time, can make a lot of mistakes and misjudgment. The way she held ElDoodle but also allowed comics and paper-"crap" (yeah, crap) to mix with doodle drawings or illustration has proved that. And you now, she even picked what obviously not a doodle among real doodles and gave the chance for stupid rule-breakers to voice their complaints with like "you know, I got all my hand hurt just too make that". For me, it's totally ridiculous. If they used their hands and complained they were hurt, the how's about we artists and illustrators? We draw by HANDS in hours, not feet or mouth, so what would be hurt here??? You know the answer. I laughed at them when they said that just to cover the fact that they couldn't even draw or even know what a doodle is, then cheated just to win. Disgusting!
But then again, if the judge were not by their side, how the hell they got their upper hands on all of the real artists???
Also, Cuddles tends to like complex, but the matter of "complex" itself rather than what is called "complex". If you have Cuddles as judge, you only need to throw everything you have. I mean, everything. Don't worry about the composition or if it really the topic of the doodles, just throw things in as much as many as you can, characters, random vivid effects... you will have a much higher chance to win. If I remind you, you may recall the Valentine ElDoodle. Personally I like your entry, especially the one when IP and DC walk on the street on winter day (yeah, I really like it). You know that I also participated with my entry at 2nd place, right? Well, if you have time, please take a look at it again. Do you wonder why I draw my Raven and Ara different from the game and why there's no romantic scene between the couple but just the fact that my Raven is getting annoyed at the Miho? Honestly, in fact, that illustration was not made for the contest, but it's a scene/theme artwork for my Xmas gift fanfiction chapter that my partner gave me (the look on the "Raven"'s face is what happens in the chapter, I can give you that sentence right from the fanfic). I'm not interested in the game's ship ever since stupid Elesis was released. I want to do more for my FC/OC in the fiction. By the way, if you asked me, I'll say that I was not really satisfied with that illustration. I had problem with the tablet so i just threw the effects and textures randomly. However, it was also a test for my hypothesis about Cuddles before I made the entry for DiE Eldoodle, and I was right. Cuddles just picked what appeals to her.Β
Another thing I prefer Crow to Cuddles is Crow is kinder a lot when he gives rewards to everyone. It's not much but it proves their way of working and appreciation.

noo honestly im not blaming crow haha im just being a sore loser LOL ill get over it but im actually grateful since he gave me an extra 500 kching along with the 2500 and according to what u said he seems pretty nice ^^ and i know they said specifically digital coloured pictures so entering the trad one was my fault. just i question whoever judges these comps choices for a lot of things T; and its alright! im sure i offended in some way too so forgive me! <3

Well, it's ok. What passed is passed already, though after I watched the clip of KoG's staff in NA, bunch of them are GM, so I just wonder if there is any of them is artist or designer (well, if they are all programmers and testers, then you got the answer for their artistic taste and knowledge xD)
