Description Thanks to OC-training I get to try something new. For their Homestaying 2020  challenge I did the "Manga-cover" topic and it was really fun!

So, here are some characters from my forever-going story The Stone of Predestination . In the center is the main character Karil  and behind him are his best friend Tari  and their teacher Salep . I tried a bit different style than usual, but I didn't manage the true "Manga" one  .

As you might guess, the cover was heavily inspired from Naruto (). About some of the details now.

1. The title 宿命の石 (Shukumei no ishi), which means.... The Stone of Predestination
2. The kanji at the bottom 葉桜 mean  hazakura - cherry tree in leaf (without blossoms). A little token to Japan.
3. Nothing much but the pentagon with the issue number is due to the five elements existing in my universe.
4. On the hem of Karil's clothes there is the japanese kanji for 5 (五)

So after so much work and deep meaning GIVE A LIKE     !!

Characters, story and art belong to me

Oh, I just love it! For some reason, this cover takes me back to the time I was twelve years old, desperately trying to get my hands on an issue of Naruto; or in this particular case - I feel like I should be nostalgic over 'The Stone of Predestination', even if I never read it. Let the adventure begin indeed!

The manga style suits Karil for sure, and he's as cute as ever; I also really like Tari's hair and the way you colored their patterned outfits. The way you represented everyone's respective element also is creative (yet traditional in a Naruto-like fashion!) and I really enjoy the reflective light on Karil's face, too.

Also, Salep is handsome as ever

Thank you for the lovely comment, as usual!

I am happy that it reminds you of Naruto, it was heavily inspired by it. It was nice giving them more Japanese-like clothing. Experimenting with all the patterns and effects was also a nice exercise. Since I switched from Photoshop to Krita I still have a lot to learn about the difference in features and program layout.

I am actually considering whether to re-size Salep's eyes and head a bit. They seem little too large. What do you think?

Anyway, thank you again for the lovely words!

This is bright and eye-catching.  I think the plain white background really works for you here and makes the page stand out.  I'm not quite so sure about the border but that's maybe a matter of personal taste

I like the way you've lit the main character with his own lightning.  And feeding off that you can see the importance of each of the triad here by placement and size/depth of colour.  Going into the story even before they read the first page they know who the story is about.  It's a nice storytelling device that could let you lead into the main character's introduction in a different way.  Very interesting/creative.

I like the style! Nice to see the crew ready for the grand adventure none of them wanted Great idea with presenting the respective elements Tari and Salep wield, and Karil using his scary lightnings we all know he wields so well (can't forget how he electrocuted Salep in his Guess Who). The only thing I would still add is maybe some landscape in the background, would feel less empty behind them.

Thanks!

I was thinking about adding a background but feared it might get overcrowded. Initially i wanted to put a drawing of The Five Pillars (the city) there but I decided against it. The cover style was heavily inspired by Naruto. I know that Kishimoto-sensei has some crazy cool backgrounds but I wanted to be like some of his leaner ones (like this   or this one ). I might think of putting something as background later, but I can't promise  .
