Description
The Dark Crystal has been a favorite movie of mine for many years now so I am very excited about the new series coming to Netflix the end of August. I've also been ready various Dark Crystal comics and novels lately as well so my obsession with this magical fandom is at an all time high. XD
I decided to draw my OC, Emerald as a Gelfling and have created a small bio for her as well as I am hoping to roleplay this series with fellow fans.
Below is a snippet of writing I did regarding Emerald and her (fan made) clan, the Chandra.
~
Eight great Gelfling clans lay scattered across the land, reaching as far East as the wave sailing Sifa's and stretching Westward to the cave dwelling Grottan's with many other clans scattered in between. One of such clans were the moon worshipping Chandra, a small Gelfling clan who lived peacefully in the lagoons which skirted the Dark Woods. Their village of Villea Chandra was like a glimmering jewel set in a crown of rich green timber. Their homes were carved deep within towering trees which reached far into the sky, with many rope ladders and sturdy bridges made of vines and branches connecting one grand tree to another. Candle light glimmered through clear glass windows like bright stars during the inky blackness of night and made the village look as if it was inhabited by thousands of dancing fireflies. Canals from the turquoise lagoons had been carved into the rich earth long ago and created a waterway in which skinny canoes, carved from hallowed out tree trunks could manoeuvre gracefully. Some ferried Gelflings, taking them from one point of the village to another while others carried food or supplies which had been harvest or traded for from their closest neighbours; the Stonewood Clan. Children would often run along the bands of the canals as they chased after the canoes, giggling with glee as they races one another to various bridges in order to watch the boats glide silently underneath.
At the heart of the Chandra clan was its Maudra, a young Gelfing known as Emerald the Song Weaver. Like all females of her race, the newly appointed Maudra was slender in frame with delicate gossamer wings which rested tightly against her back when not in use. Unlike many females of her clan whose wings were delicate shades of orchid, silver and hazel, Emerald's wings were a shimmering mixture of rich forest green and tints of lavender. Her skin, like most Chandra was pale as moonlight and her kind eyes were the colour of freshly sprouted spring leave. Thick waves of fiery red locks, a rare colour for a Gelfling, fell down her back like a waterfall with two braided strands that framed her delicate face. A silver circlet set with two shinning gems rested atop her her head and a long dress of of greens and earthy browns clung to her slender silhouette. While beautiful as any flower, the newly appointment leader of her clan felt more like a thistle as nervousness and uncertainly pricked at her insides. This was not a role she had been expecting to be thrust upon her. She was, after all the youngest daughter of Maudra Lilayan which meant her older sister was suppose to inherit this role. Tragically thought, after only being Maudra for three moons, her older sister Morgana had vanished while crossing the Dark Woods with a small band of guards, having never reached their destination of Stone-In-The-Wood. It was a painful wound on young Emerald's heart which still bore deep scars from the lose of her mother not to long before. She had no time now to grieve over the sudden loss of her family as the role of Maudra was quick to set upon her and running the village now took up all her time. Despite that aching of her tender heart, Emerald pushed on and kept her clan happy and healthy and in tune with the world around them.
Villea Chandra was at harmony with the song of Thra and all who dwelt within its forest of cozy homes lived in ignorant bliss of the darkness which slowly crept towards them....
