Description Just something I threw together. I've had it on my mind to do this for a while, and taking notes in my homeschool history course made me want to make it real quick.

This song provides just one example of how ignorant we are (I speak for Americans here) to our own history: [link]

yes! Just oh please yes!!!!! I have a hard time talking to people who claim religion (particularly Christianity) has nothing to do with the founding of the U.S. Β They do not enjoy listening to what I have to say~Β

Glad to hear someone else agrees! It's sad how people try to avoid acknowledging the influence that religion has had in history all around the world. Β They avoid it like it's some taboo or elephant in the room.

Thanks for the comment!

You are very welcome! Β It really is amazing how one simple phrase on a stamp can sum up my feelings on the subject~

Not just Americans but many people are pretty ignorant of history. But yeah... there is a bit of a clamp on useful information now a days that doesn't help. And modified information as well.

Indeed. I just felt that (as an American) it would be a good example for me to provide; the ignorance of my own country.

I still can't believe that anyone would be offended at the mention of religion in school. Oh well...I count myself blessed to be homeschooling (even though I have to work three times as hard! >_<)

Various religions have shaped the world and culture for thousands and thousands of years. Today that's still true fact.

All over the world, and beyond it even. People should stop being so afraid.

In US today the situation what I cannot stand and is harming others and misinforming others in US and outside of it is when people blend religion and politics. They are separate.

Indeed! Ignoring religion isn't going to make it go away!

Yeah, I know. I'm not proud of what the U.S. is doing right now. The stamp is about religion in history all over the world, but the song about Christianity in U.S. history was just a good example I found.

You know what's really annoying, is that even though it has been stated over and over again that our Founding Fathers were Christians, there are some people who don't believe that and will say it until they are blue in the face.

Seriously. -__- I've even heard people claim that the Holocaust had nothing to do with religion; just race. They'll whole-heartedly agree that homosexuals were persecuted, but say anything about religious persecution, and they fly off the handle.

...
What

the

HECK!?

Okay, okay...if people choose (yes, I say CHOOSE) to be gay, I'm not going to give them crap about it. It's their choice, and what I say isn't going to change their mind. But for God's sake, people, DON'T MESS WITH SCRIPTURE!!!! Seriously!

Sorry, I don't want to interrupt, and I definitely don't want to start and argument, I was just wondering what you meant by choose. I swear, I won't start arguing with you, I'll respect your opinion, everything, it's just I was just wondering if you meant choose like, "Choose to be with person of same gender" or "Choose to start being attracted to same gender" or just being homosexual...?

KittyCowLexa In reply to TigerLeily [2011-04-21 13:31:57 +0000 UTC]
