It's funny how the architectural details can make a lot of buildings look the same inside...before I saw the description I thought this was Canterbury Cathedral!

Well the Portuguese queen Philippa of Lancaster was a major influence during its construction, so its natural that it has similarities. Only with the Portuguese discoveries do we begin to see truly unique Portuguese architecture.
