Description Hey guys! So I know I'd said I'd post my digitally painted eye next, but this one won out in the end. I actually am uber pround of this. Not only is this my first background picture, but I used a new coloring and lineart technique. I didn't use a vector layer for anything, except for the bottom line of the window, and all of my lineart was done freehand. And yes, just by looking at this I can literally see a million mistakes - the prespective, the shadow, the gun, her feet, whatever, but I think that without mistakes we will never learn. Now, I know how not to make a background, how to better color things, and just so much more about digital art than I knew before.

Oh, and yes, that is a gun on her thigh holster. I know it's not all that great lol.

I own Lyra, the (original! Not based off of anyone elses work!!!!) sketch, the lineart, the coloring, and the background! So everything!!!! So proud of myself

Program: Easy Paint Tool SAI
Time: Around 20ish hours
Materials: Staedtler Mechanical Pencil, HB lead, Tuff Stuff eraser stick

Wow, you should be very proud of this! It's rare to see less experienced manga-style artists care about anatomy... Which is ironic since it's largely one of the most important aspects of the style.

But this is much more anatomically correct than most people can do at this stage. The point is, you're on the right track to being able to draw anything you want, because you're making sure you understand your basics first and foremost.

I would say, work on the position of the iris's in the eye, as they're facing opposite directions. The bottom of the shirt also needs a bit of work, as does the hair positioning and shape. But otherwise, you're definitely on the right track!

If you ever feel like you're having trouble with anything while drawing, feel free to ask me for help if you feel so inclined. I see a lot of potential here, and definitely wouldn't mind helping you progress as an artist

Oh my gosh thank you! I recently discovered my love of perspective and anatomy, after I did this drawing, so it's so cool to hear that I got it right! And yeah, I definately noticed those things. Hopefully in future work I'll be able to correct any of those mistakes!

And I definately will! I've watched you for ages, and I adore your work. It's really, really, cool to hear such positive feedback from an artist I really admire, so thank you so much! I don't comment much on your work, mostly because everything I do is so go, go, go, all the time, (Thats what I get, for taking so many extra classes this year. sigh.), but I really want to. And sorry this got divided up, I think I accidentally hit something hahah. But really, thank you so much! I might...note you or message you or whatever DeviantArt uses to talk to people. (Can you tell that I get confused between websites? hahah sorry). Thanks so much, I really appreciate it!!!

Another first post is a bit creepy, but I got bored cuz I just got out of school and THAT'S THE WAY IT GOES.

Awesome! Although the gun is a little...worrying. How do you stand doing backgrounds? I can never get around to making a decent background, I find it too boring. Quick constructive criticism: She looks like she has fish eyes (one pointing in the opposite direction of the other) Might just be the light glare, but I felt I should point it out. Otherwise, great job. Very original, deserving of a backstory!

Hahaha Yeah, I'm going through one of my crime show stages. (NCIS, Bones, Phsych, Law and Order...heh) The background made me want to kill someone...those leaves were PAINFUL!!!!!!! I don't know how I finished it... And hahaha yeah, her pupils WERE centered, but clearly I can't center light glare. I feel like I should go back and fix that, but I'm too lazy now haha. Thanks
