Personally I really love this painting of crystal cat. I used trick with plastic bag texture

I used Ultramarine, Turquise, Cerulean Blue and Indigo aquarells on Canson 160g/m2 A5 size.

It's more my hard work and dedication than just a mythical talent . I don't believe in talent. And if so, it's something like loving doing something and learning easilly because it's regarded as funny play, not school-like system forcing you to do stuff you hate. But talent as magical gift given to only choosen ones? No, it doesn't convince me. Especially that not always I was drawing like this. On beginning I was really terribly in that... maybe one day I'll upload one of my oldest works I have and I'll re-draw it just for fun . But I know you had good intention saying that so thank you .

Well said. I agree somewhat. I suppose the talent lies in disciplining oneself.

I wish I would be so good with this technique. My lines are always barely visible

Oh! So nice to see you here !!! Thank you for you comment !!!

You mean lines made with plastic bag or these on cat? In first case I think that may be matter of plastic type. I saw on YouTube tutorials where people were doing it with cling film and their results weren't that sharp as mine. I used plastic bag (just the simplest after sweet bun) so maybe that's the key. Under cling film there is no air that it all could dry very fast, while plastic bag is just quite loose on painting, even if I put books on it, there is still air and it dries very fast giving sharp edges . In 2nd case it's just matter of painting on fully dried paper and watering only one edge to make smooth transition to fully transparent.

That must be it
I was always using the plastic wrap / cling film.
Oh my...have to try the plastic bag

To daje świetny efekt takiej przejrzystości .   I jeszcze to piękne odbicie ...Uwielbiam <3

No w sumie... cień też mógłby być .

I mega miła

Amazing effect! It makes me think of a wall of ice, like the cat was on an ice palace or something. The reflection on the ground is amazing too. I am loving these watercolors of yours.

When I made the background I also had in mind ice palace. I considered drawing there an ice dragon, but finally I decided to place there a cat . Thank you for your words . Such comments really warm my heart .

So glad this worked for you! Beautiful colours and a great composition. How did you do the reflective surface effect? My guess is glaze it with clear water?

Kizzy-i-Keinstein In reply to Virtuella [2018-07-06 07:11:08 +0000 UTC]

It worked perfectly! I have a lot of fun playing with it, but the result is really unpredicable .

On begining I've just took all my blue shades I had and covered the whole surface of paper and put on that plastic bag. I really loved the result and I considered to leave it as it was, just needed to manually smooth some areas with wet brush, because you was right that it doesn't work well with textured paper (but I had only such paper at the moment). It reminds me how dry aquarell pencil beheaves on such paper so if with the pencil it's enough to smooth with wet brush I thought that here it might work as well and indeed it worked! Just took me some time before I manually fixed all aras .

But the whole painting was a bit too empty so I decided to add the cat and then I really fell in love with that! I can't wait until I'll craft a notebook with this painting as cover!

And yes, you're absolutely right - it's glazing technique . I painted horizontal line and watered it creating transparent gradient .

I like how the shapes and shadows around the face make it look like the cat is wearing a mask.

As you said it now I noticed only then, yeah, it looks like a mask indeed! These random shapes sometimes give funny effects . Thank you really much for the comment. I really appreciate it .

A crystal cat or maybe a cat seen through crystal
Did you make your cats paint for you again
I like the plastic bag trick!
Fun to experiment with such tools

Hard to say ... both versions looks very probable ^^'...

No, this time no, just Beza wanted to steal my brush again and Pąka tried to kill my feather-duster which I use to remove remains from ruber and salt... so... yeah, in this context they painted together with me .

I was inspired by this great artwork . Virtuella used here cling film. I didn't have it in my kitchen at the moment, so I used the simplest plastic bag . And yeah - it was really funny to experiment with it!
