AO is great - takes rendertime you know...

Did you ever try zbrush.
It is complex but the sculpting posibilities are great.
I could suggest any hypernurbs or subdivision surfaces tool. 3dsmax or cinema4d.
Modo is great, Lightwave what ever you have...

Yes I have, quite nice. I downloaded the trial version. I have even tried C4D. A friend of mine tried so hard to teach me. He really wanted me to learn 3D but I found it too difficult at the time. I bought Hexagon 2 so cheap and now it's my tool. I quite like it.

Yes I know.
You stick with the first software you are familiar and quite satisfied...
For me it was Cinema4D. Then years ago. One of the first versions.
I have no clue about Hexagon 2... But interesting
