Description The first photo of the ghost of christmas past.

I only had one spare candle free so what I ended up going was taking four different photos with my head in the exact same position (remote control I love you!) and then edited them together.

I love this, and I see what you were doing with it, I do. But other colours would work well with ghostly--like pale purple, and icey--like pale blue. Perhaps a gradient. Pure white is certainly ghostly, and icey, and christmasy, and beautiful. But I have to say this idea was probably less gutter-mindedly enticing in the mind than it is in practice.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy all the arguments between the people who are adamant about this being resemblant of... well, it need not be repeated... and those who are defending this piece. Everyone has a right to their opinion, no one can prevent them from this right or their right to express this opinion. But there's no need for a dozen comments degrading photography and art such as this.

Honestly, I'm struggling to grasp the intention with this piece. The title suggests association with A Christmas Story, but it feels like there's something else intended with this piece. A sense of loss? Hopelessness? Mourning the loss of something personal? I'm not sure. Can you explain it?

Seriously. If ur trying to tell ur self that she doesn't look like she jus got came on then ur an idiot. It doesn't mean that's what we're thinking about and it doesn't mean we're juvenile. It MEANS that that pic looks like someone busted on her face.

I'm really sorry that there aren't enough proper adults to give artistic criticism, the downside to deviant art being that even infantile teenagers are allowed to comment. Sad, because the world would be a better place otherwise. I will say that psychologically, if it's the first thing you mention, then it's on your mind, consciously or subconsciously. It will take many years for teen youth to finally stop thinking of themselves as completely intelligent-know-all sex addicts. Don't wait for them to grow up, keep creating art. The wax reminds me of being dripped with melting plastic, until one becomes covered in a plastic shell, unable to express themselves anymore, because they've lost touch with who they really are. Dissociation I guess would be the word, and the color WHITE, along with purple, is used to express dissociating, or losing oneself. Hey, if the sex comments get you more views, then whatever, at least you're on the front of the Deviant Art home-page. Have a good laugh, you've used the lowest of scoundrel's as your stepping stone to fame, and their still at the bottom!

You're apart of the reason that no one can say anything without it being twisted. Life never used to be this way, you used to get an ass whipping with a belt as a child, if you were perverted, and exiled from society if you still had a nasty mind as an adult. Now all the puerile brains have been let loose, and it's debasing society, right down to the primitive mind of the mouse; Feed oneself, sleep, mate, defecate, repeat.

Merry Christmas, not everyone's addicted to porn.

not defending the douchebag below but everyone is perverted in a way and has a "nasty mind" of some sort. I don't know your age but sooner or later you will be addicted to sex, or at least your hormones will kick in where that's all your mind can think of at certain moments in your life. its human nature.

I don't believe anyone has to have a dirty-mind. The more we are conditioned to believe that it's expected and are exposed to it everyday over interfaces like the internet, tv, and media, it becomes normal, it creates a neurological pathway in the brain to constantly associate sex with none-sexual things, or think of sex constantly on a sub-conscience level and not even realize it until it manifests in other ways. To be honest, I believe this because I've experimented with the idea myself, the more I'm around people who make sexual jokes, the more I listen to sexual music, the more sexually-minded I become. It's a law of nature I think, not just sex, but anything that can become addicting behavior. If we were constantly bombarded with the theme of "destruction" or if "hugging" was something everyone constantly talked about, we'd all start thinking, acting out, and reacting to destruction-orientated themes, or, as hugging goes, constantly thinking of wrapping our arms around people. At the moment I'm at the stage in my life where everyone expects me to be the most sexual. I don't feel all that sexual, I'm well antiquated with sexual feelings, but they don't impress me, at 18 I feel so worn out with sexuality because it's everywhere, that I'm honestly not even interested. I've got more stimulating things to focus on, (Exuse the pun!) Like studying society, art, and theory. I'm sure when I'm married to a nice guy I'll be everything I need to be, raging hormonal young adult or not! But for now, I'd rather watch and analyze concepts, enjoy friendships and agape love.

And I just feel like people who sexualize everything, take part in violating sexuality, I mean there comes a point where you have so much "cake" that you puke... and if that "cake" is forced down you everywhere you go, you end up, well...cake-traumatized. Asexuality in young-adults is skyrocketing, and I have a theory that our over-sexualization has something to do with it.

I agree with you to a sense. You are disregarding hormones. I agree that taboo plays a huge factor in sex. The fact that everyone talks about it and it's seen as "wrong" or "controversial" only makes it that much more enticing for people, thus the desire of sexualizing everything they see.

But also, even if sex wasnt so talked of, hormones and lust play a huge factor in this. I believe you when you say sex doesn't attract you at the moment, but there comes a point in life when attraction just mixes with lust. That happens to every person in life and you can't necessarily control it to a point u say it won't happen till before you get married. It's impossible.

If people want to act like idiots and see something perverted in what was clearly not meant to be taken that way in the slightest that's their problem, not mine. I'm not going change a photo I like because some people are too immature to not turn everything into an innuendo.

Look, which item is more likely to end up on a woman's face, especially on todays World where a Money shot is looked upon as a natural ending to any type of intercourse? Semen or wax

Wax will never end up on your face unless you are extremely clumsy

You dont really need that explanation, you are trying to make everyone perverted to come clean from this

YOU are the one with dirty mind, not us.

And then there's your kind who thinks that creating an account on dA turns you into an instant artist. Please tell me how you see art in this, but I want you to explain it like a critic. If not, I can just dismiss whatever your opinion is the same way I would the "cum" comments.

Alright then first of all I'd like to say that I don't think that everyone creates a da accout is an artist with that out of the way from a critic stand point what I see as art is ANYTHING that inspires one to ponder with an open mind or is so beautiful that it causes a stir of emotion deep within as for the piece in question I feel as though she feels sad possibly because she longs for something she can't obtain or maybe she feels like a candle who's wick is slowly burning until she expires and she will have nothing to show for her existence exept the light which she was breifly able to put out into this cold dark world but then again that's just my opinion how's that
