I've read that he doesn't like the "blocky" design of male pony heads.

But I don't like it when they use female heads for male characters though. Like that blue pegasus in "Dusk's Dawn". I also don't like the blocky heads (like the big ones).

I don't believe eyelashes determine gender either, but for MLP FiM, that's one of the main things other than the face shape.
