This is so lovely. The emotion is just so tangible...poor Dick...*huggles* It's okay, sweetheart...wait a couple years and you'll be a dashing, ass-kicking superhero. It'll all be okay then

I really love your use of lighting, and the shadows (on the figure, trees, and floor) are very well done. Your style of faces is really great- Disney with a touch of Miyazaki. This is truly wonderful.

This is amazing work. It really reflects the whole feel of the Wayne mansion. And I love the shadow/lighting on the floor.

Awww... poor Dick. *hugs him* I want so much to adopt him myself.

wow. He looks so isolated. But he doesn't look afraid. Makes me think Dick is a braver person than Bruce... I'm not really sure how I came to that conclusion, but there you have it.

I like that Dick is fairly well detailed, while everything else is quite plain and stark, it focuses everything on Dick.

Lovely picture, it strength deffinitely lies in the light and shade. the contrast and how you show his back is lit. it's lovely, but for some reason what I love most are his feet. They're lovely feet and I have urges to tickle them.

Haunting.. the moon in the background is great.. the lighting from it too.

The expression is brilliant. Not exagerated, just subtle enough to actually believe he is lonely. Great lighting effects, the proportions are excellent and the perspective is just right. I would suggest making more contrast on the fabric folds where the light isn't hitting like his inner arms and lap. I don't think it would hurt to add more detail to the wall and flooring also, these are just all things that could be done to really get this idea flowing. Superb work, you have no idea how much you've improved.

I messed around with alternate versions of it, including one with heavier contrast. I really did like ho wit looked on the folds, like you said,a nd thought about posting that one instead... but sometimes I wonder if I'm too in love with heavy contrast to the point where sometime sI overdo it, and I didn't want to overdo this one so I left it like this.

It's good to know other people see the same thing and that I should just go with my insincts.

It will come to a point where you'll find something that you'll stick by and is consistent in your work. It's usually not a case of applying yourself as time can be better spent learning other things. It's something that evolves I guess.

Very true. You can only force yourself to improve so much, mistly it's just a slow, long-term learning process.

I have some things I stick by... just, I'm also constantly changing, too. And I spend too much time obsessing ^^

i love that i get to see your stuff first through livejournal. well, first except for a bunch of other people...
you always do amazing work with shadows. doubtless it's because you are so very meticulous, but it pays off.
for some reason, though, i'm terrified he's going to fall off. eep.

Even if he did, it's okay--he's an acrobat. He knows how to handle heights.

Meticulousness is the key to good drawing! I don't know why my art teachers keep talking about strange things like "free expression" and "having fun."

aha that's true! i feel much better now.

but it is free expression, man! just in a different form - a practiced, studied, meticulously excecuted form of free expression!

Exactly! I'm very structured and rigid about my free expression.
