Description “Have you ever met a Arix?”
If you are lucky, you have probably seen one of the engineer types in the trading galleons of the Ardon; their frail, void adapted bodies scuttling about as they barter happily with the merchants, trading mechanical marvels for exotic art and pieces of culture from around the galaxy.
Or maybe you’ve seen one of their vessels or stations in the dimensional webway of the Ultrum, their near-indestructible crystalline armor protecting them from the ravages of this storm infested space.
But have you seen one of their soldier types? I wouldn’t be surprised if you haven’t.
They’re civilization, They’re entire existence is in the Ultrum. They have no need for the resources of our space, they don’t fight for philosophy or religion and no empires would be stupid enough to pick a fight with them.
In our galaxy at least.
That’s the thing about the Arix that so few know about. That they are a intergalactic race. Through unknown means, they have been able to breach the barriers between galaxies.
And in that great expanse, I do not doubt that they have encountered more dangerous beings that advanced enough, or crazy enough, to fight them.
And in these circumstances, the Arix soldiers are deployed.
Built for the gravity of worlds, the soldiers are the answer for planetary warfare. Their bodies are scientific wonders rivaling that of Terrans. Their exoskeleton is as hard as the heavy kinetic armor worn by siege breakers, their strength and speed are reinforced by implanted cybernetics.
I have only seen one of them ever in my life. It was twenty years ago. I was serving as a marine; guarding a Ardon trading ship against a pack of Strokuryn raiders.
We drove their ships back, but not before they had launched a few breaching pods to take the Ardon ship.
Me and my comrades were sent immediately to reinforce the defenders inside. But we weren’t needed. Fight was long done by the time we got there.
Turned out that there was a Arix soldier there, who was just there by chance, visiting the ship’s captain, as they were old friends.
When the Strokuryns had boarded, the Arix, (whose name I still can’t pronounce; I’ll just call him big bastard.) had led the defenders in the counterattack, killing many Strokuryns with his own bare hands. Now let me remind you that Strokuryns are Terrans, and the fact that big bastard was able to kill any of them in hand to hand combat, with his hands?? That should tell you that big bastard was no joke.
The captain later held a banquet in big bastard’s honor, and the room’s gravity was switched off so Big bastard could bring his space-bound Arix colleagues .
Let me tell ya, eating in zero G was fun as hell. A little weird, but definitely fun.
I was floating near big bastard when I overheard one of his colleagues asked him why he was still in that uncomfortable form.
Big bastard replied that he was always comfortable in it, made him feel Invincible.
The colleague said something about Big bastard being a something-couldn’t translate- and the two shared a humming-like laugh and continued to enjoy the banquet.
I later learned that Arix can switch bodies like one switches clothes. You could be working as a engineer one day and fighting as a soldier type the next.
Not gonna lie to ya. Space is pretty weird.”

- Kavin Brustoff of the auxiliary Space corp of the Terran Imperium
