Well, since I posted the Dingo a few minutes ago I thought I might as well post the Hyena. This is one of my favorite animal portraits because it has more detail than what I typically do, and I think the poor hyenas get such bad press. They have such marvelous coloration and their facial features are rather endearing. Sure, they have a freaky voice but at least they look cool

Wow like so many others i was thinking whether it was a photo or not. But for me first the fur on the forehead gave it away. Still, it really looks amazing!

I love this. The hyena is my spirit animal. Ive been wanting to get a tribal type tattoo but have had a hard time finding any. I guess the hyena is not very popular.

Its so sad how malingered the hyena is! They are really rather noble animals, and have one of the best family attitudes in the animal kingdom (they take care of their young better and longer than almost any creature other than humans, for one thing), and they aren't quite as much of the scavenger as people think they are (for example, *lions* often steal the prey that the hyenas took down themselves).

Thank you so much. It is terrible that hyenas get such bad press. Frankly they have more character than the "regal" lion but they have been labeled a nuisance, which is so far from the truth. The ignorance of the media has certainly not helped the hyena's credibility.

I have to agree with you, I personally love everything about Hyena's, including how they were clever enough to figure out that bigger animals will kill their food for them xD
