Description:
The introduction of the IS-3, IS-4, T-10, and IS-7 brought attention to the USSR's tank program by the USA and UK. Knowing that their M103 and Conquerors were not going to be up to the task. They decided to make a tank that would surpass that. The Super Conqueror was made by the British to combat this, but the United States was not satisfied with upgrading the M103, as they realized what a colossal failure that was. So, they decided to keep the chassis and combine it with an upgraded and upsized hull and turret from the T110E5.

The tank was tested for at least 2 years before full production as the M30, and had a 105mm gun as the 140mm was not yet invented.
Pikenoses, sloped armour, and oblong hulls were experimented on, then one technician had the idea of basically combining them into a light but strong armour tough enough to withstand 130mm and up. They also added 20mm to the gun of the M103 and tested it for months on end, giving it a powerful shot.

What happened was not only quite joyous for the USA, especially its military, but also very threatening for the USSR as Soviet spies realised how impressive its armour was, even exceeding the IS-7. Most called it a hoax, but after one was deployed in Germany as testing for new German heavies, Moscow knew that the US was not playing around. All armour typed were culminated in this one and a 140mm cannon, even bigger than Sconq's 120 and IS-7's 130, was going to knock the shit out of their T-10s, IS-4s, IS-7s, and T-55s.

On the US's side, things looked bright and now, since the threat of the IS-7 and T-10 were basically distant memories, so the US government under Eisenhower, Kennedy, and later, Johnson had time to reform capitalism to make it more beneficial and rewarding for blue-collar workers and POCs to stem the spread of communism instead of fearmongering and purges. At some point they were right, as the tank, for one so heavily armed and armoured, could reach the speed of the M-48 and later M60, making it basically a heavy MBT at that point.

Vietnam was a different story, as though the tank's benefits were obvious like its firepower, its size would make it difficult to transport and position, so they used a raiseable chassis similar to this:

A 14-roadwheel (7 on each side) chassis resemblng the T-95 Medium was thought up by Chrysler in order to make it function as a heavy TD with the choice of either a M483 140mm ATGM howitzer, an M163 152mm howitzer, or a 155mm similar to the T-30, and outfitted with a snorkel and oxygen tank
This would be known as the M30A1E1 "Janissary" and would lose to the M60A2 but thanks to its relative's success would see limited service in Vietnam as a legend.

" According to defected NVA general Duy Francois Bui, the corpses of Vietnamese T55s lay on the banks of the Mekong, as NVA forces and Vietcong guerillas swarmed the south. They often tell legends about "ghost tanks" on the southwestern part of the river. NVA generals would tell these stories to terrified conscripts, especially of one American tank that once lay in the Mekong, ambushing T-55s from China, Vietnam, and North Korea. To the West, it was named the M30A1E1 "Janissary", but to these natives, it was called "The Monster of the Mekong River" or  "Quái vật sông Mekong"

Filipe B. Vernon, "Unusual American Armour"

A 155mm "Super Spartan" was envisioned but lacked funding, as taxes were being paid to fund the development of the MBT-70, which would also include a HMBT 70 that would replace the M30A1. However, it failed and the M1 Abrams was born.

Spartans would see themselves in US forces from Iraq to Israel to Germany. However, with the advent of the M1 Abrams, and later the much heavier M7 Diamondback, they would see themselves in reserves, except Israel with the Samson IV (שמשון הרביעי), Afghanistan, where one knocked out a Taliban offensive all by itself, and ironically Russia, as they were bulding new HMBTs of their own.
