I support the venting about personal problems, but the idea of others talking about me in such a way is terrifying.
Anyway, a common theme I'm seeing is that you make friends based on one shared interest (ponies), and then once they lose that interest, the friendship dies. I'm guessing there's a lot more to it than that. Friendships based on one interest are often fragile

Are you telling me to not vent about friendship problems? If I cannot even vent, that would make it much worse. Friendship is important to me and consequently troubles in friendship is very painful for me.
You are not a close friend so I will not vent about you, so you should not worry.
Before ponies, I was obsessed with The Lion King. I made a friend in middle school from the Lion King. The friendship lasted after she lost interest in it though, and only ended due to losing contact.
Though I think it's something about how I make friends. I need some common interest. Pony or math or physics or something. Without that I can't seem to keep a friendship going. I don't think it's something wrong with me, but it makes me sad anyway.

I was just talking about the public venting, like the thing I constantly do. Cause I'm guessing that's what she was talking about. I know we're not close
I'm glad that the friendships can last! Common interests are a necessity, it's just fandoms can easily change
