Making Fantasy Safe. One Mary-Sue at a time.These are mine and Sianne's alter egos. I'm the one in the Vampire Hunter D Ripoff armor. If you aren't familiar with VHD, then I'm the one in the hat.
We are the Mary-Sue Hunters. We MST bad fanfiction, torment Mary-Sues in Roleplay... etc.
Sianne belongs to herself.

How ironic!! My friend ~Riku-of-Darkness and I created Mary-Sue Hunters too! They are our OCs from two separate fictions who band together to rid many popular fandoms of M-Ss.
We're writing a story together on it; most is through roleplay while other "cases" they accepted are separately written by us.

There are two of the noblest people I've met.
I've read my share of bad mary-sue fanfic, and a third of the pain comes from the abuse the English language takes. Nothing makes bad fanfic quite so bad as grammar and plot abuse.

A Mary-Sue can be found in both chat role-play and Fanfiction. Mary-Sues are the characters in fanfiction or RP that are obviously a self-insert by the author. They often share the same name as the author or their name is their author's screen name. These are the girls that must be dating/married to one of the hottest characters in the fandom that the chat role-play or fanfiction is set. IE: She is often married to Legolas, or Harry Potter, or someone similar. She is perfect, she never has a hair out of place, she can sing like an angel, and her tears are always beautiful. She can fight like a demon, but when there's a man around she's totally helpless. She's perfect and flawless and is everything her author wishes she was.
These characters are all well and good so long as we, the public, are not subjected to them. I even have my own Mary-Sue, or in my case Gary-Stu (which is the male version), character that I pretend I am when I'm day dreaming, but writing a story about your Mary-Sue alter ego is a big no-no and even more so is POSTING that story. Mary-Sues are the most HATED by authors and Role-players alike. Often this is because Mary-Sues have no grasp of basic grammar, or even how to use spellchecker. They are mediocre authors at best, but when you tell them, nicely, that they could improve they often pipe up with something like "It's perfect! You're mean and stupid!"
I could go on for hours about what Mary-Sues are... Most fanfiction authors and RPers hate them because they are everywhere and they won't listen to reason, they are too far gone in their own fantasy worlds to realize that no one likes them and they get really pissy when you tell them, even nicely, that you don't like their work because that pulls them out of their little fantasy world.
Some Mary-Sues are just young girls that don't know any better. It's sounds elitist of me when I say that these particular girls can be "reformed", but you can ask just about anyone that reads fanfiction what they hate most, one of the things that comes out of their mouths is guaranteed to be "Mary-Sues". It's the 20 year olds that are still trapped in their fantasies that I REALLY hate... because generally, there's no hope for them.
