Description “After this I saw in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast, terrifying and dreadful and exceedingly strong. It had great iron teeth; it devoured and broke in pieces and stamped what was left with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns. I considered the horns, and behold, there came up among them another horn, a little one, before which three of the first horns were plucked up by the roots. And behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking great things.” – Daniel 7:7-8 (ESV)

The fourth beast in Daniel’s vision was not presented or symbolized by any particular animal and was explained far more explicitly than the other three. It represents the Roman Empire and corresponds with the “legs of iron” in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream (Daniel 2:32 ). Erasing all traces from the kingdom before it, Rome was on many levels, different, diverse, and far crueler from the kingdoms before it indeed. Nero, the guy who sponsored the project to deep-fried Christians in boiling oil, came into power here.

This is where things become scary…

Part of this beast’s prophecy has not come to pass even in our present age. In Daniel 7:11-28 you will find that the prophecy of this same beast extends as far as the return of Jesus Christ and the Day of Judgment (which obviously hasn’t occurred yet). Simply put, we’re still living in the era of this prophecy.

The ten horns correspond with the “ten toes of clay and iron” in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream meaning 10 kings will rise from it. However, three kings will be subdued in rise of another one. This last horn represents, what we Christians like to call, The Anti-Christ, for this kingdom will stand until the Last Day.

Still being part of the 4th beast, it is possible that the coming Anti-Christ will have some sort of connection with ancient Rome rising up to what could be a kind of “revived" Roman Empire.

Of course the most terrifying of the four creatures is paired with a chilling implication. I myself am scared of the end times so the description made me nervous.

There's actually no need to be scared. The redeemed will be saved from the hour of destruction.
Besides, we have been waiting for His coming for about 2000 years. We should be welcoming Him with joy and anticipation.

Good point. Luckily I read Revelation 7 last night and now I feel better.

I've never seen the four beasts so... "cute" before. Heh. Well done, good sir. And I applaud your knowledge on the subject matters.

 . . . Wow
This has to be the most terrifying thing I've seen you made thus far, and that teeny horn with the mouth up top has to be the creepiest part of this. Figures it represents the Anti-Christ . . .
Well done with the depiction of these figures. Even though they creep me out a lot, I think that they are all well done!

Thank you kindly.

Indeed. This has to be one of my more sinister looking works. The other being that Tales of Picis novel cover...

I like the more graphic element you utilize in this one, and the symbolism is fantastic.  Ironically I feel like it should go on a coffee mug.
