Description
A study working on color variation of light and shadow (reference link below) -- with the end of the year coming I have been winding down a little in some of my other work making room at night to get back into digital painting! I have had a few pieces that i've been working on over the past 6 months (for varying lengths of time) that i'm finally getting to go back into and it feels awesome. I particularly loved this one since i've been trying to capture a stronger sense flow and connectivity in a piece. I definitely got a little lazy towards the end with her hand but think the forward leaning shoulder and curve of the shoulders and collar is captured pretty well. While subtle, I was also trying to increase my use of color range for like and shadow (including luminescence of skin) and think it started to calm through here. Definitely a work in progress, but loving these slow advances. This piece was also particularly fun because it was drawn originally using an Intuos 4 Pro tablet, but through Black Friday I caved and picked up a Cintiq 16. What a game changer! Looking forward to the next piece!
As well, a quick shout-out to my friend Shelbie who sits with me the night through while I work over these all the while complaining about research <3 there may not be any atual fires at our side but the cold night is that much warmer.
