This is a collaboration I did with . I did the linework and flat colors (which I'll probably upload separately), and she spruced it up with the effects, background, and logo to make it look awesome an' stuff.

As you can probably tell, it is the fake "cover" to a private Super Robot Wars game run by a friend of mine. The "M" stands for "metaconcept" and the game's premise is that all of the series submitted have been altered in some way, big or small.

For some people, the metaconcept is as simple as "remove all the parts I didn't like." Some kept their stories mostly the same but changed the protagonist just to get a different perspective on the story. Some people took a series that could never normally appear in a SRW (even series that don't normally have robots) and turned it into something that would fit right in next to Mazinger and Getter.

And of course, some people just made original concepts, in which case I helped design their hero robots -- either from scratch, in collaboration with them, or based off an existing robot whose design they liked.

So if you're wondering why this picture is an amalgamation of the familiar, the unfamiliar, and the slightly baffling... well, that's the reason why.
