Dovkra hatch with their adult patterning, but it will generally be less saturated and with less contrast as their adult colors. Theyre fairly small by Dovkra standards, usually hatching out at about the size of a large dog. Twins are usually half the standard size, seeing as they had to share space inside the egg. This isnt a constant though, as sometimes one sibling will be larger and one much smaller, though in those cases the smaller one usually dies soon after hatching, as they are usually too underdeveloped to survive outside the egg.

Sikstan hatchlings dont have their plasma right out of the egg; rather the parents will need to stimulate the glands that produce it. If another Sikstan Dovkra is present, then they can simply nudge the hatchlings into their mane for a little while - this is the safest and easiest way to do it. If no other Sikstan Dovkra are present, then they have to heat up the glands by other means - usually by fire or other heated material. This is very dangerous, because if the parents/caretakers arent careful they can end up wounding and/or killing the hatchling in the process.

Its highly advised that if there is Sikstan blood in the family line that a Sikstan family member is present. If none are available, most Sikstan Dovkra are more than willing to take up the responsibility to ensure a healthy hatchling.

Ixen hatchlings start out with white teeth, but will gradually darken as they consume more heavy metals. Hatchlings will be delicate, especially compared to older Ixen Dovkra. They will quickly toughen up though, and can soon be seen playfighting and practicing their targeting!
