Goths have overly long black hair that's been straightened to no end, and wear baggy black clothes.
Punks have the Mohawks, crazy colors, leather jackets, spikes, and are kind of stuck in the '80s.
Emo's are the cross-breed. They have emovers that are either dyed black or crazy colors, checkered patterns, glasses, and skinny jeans.

Haha, at my school there is a big difference. The punks all have bleached hair and patchwork pants. The goths look like the emo's. But I agree, anywhere but my school they look the same.

Wow... I don't care about labels but I'm proud to punk, though that doesn't mean that I like to take a skateboard and beat people with it like people have been claiming in the comments.
Yeah, some punks are assholes like that, but, hey, anyone can be an asshole.
I just love the music, I love the style. For me, punk is a way of life and I'm content with it. I don't hate people because they're not punk, everyone's different.

The styles of music placed under the grouping of "goth" were indeed derived from the early punk culture of the 1970s.
Thing is, if you ask alot of members of the early goth bands(siouxsie and the banshees, alien sex fiend, christian death, etc), they'll tell you that their musical influences were punk bands such as the Germs, and Iggy and the Stooges.
So in a sense this is fairly accurate, but the twso are not equal. Goth is more or less a darker form of punk with the nihilism replaced by a sense of existentialism and metaphysics.

OMG! It's a JOKE people! YEESH! The problem is that punks (and probably some goths too) dress to stand out and try not to conform, then get pissed off when one of the sheep judge them for it. This artist is not a sheep. He is merely displaying an amusing perspective on the silly distinctions and labels we all give ourselves. Instead of making up a label for your self and expecting everyone to bow down to a bunch of socially posh rules about it (IE distinguishing between punk and goth) Maybe you should think more about your happy state as a unique human.

it seems like most people here really dont have a good understanding of punk except barrowcj2 . Punk is a way of thinking its about unity . Infact i can bet alot of money that most 90% of punks dont even dress in a crazy manner with mohawks.. thats a fashion choice that anyone whos bored can do. Where as goth is infact just a social trend theres no goth music.. or a goth way of thinking if at the most its those stupid overpriced pants with hooks on them. (being yourself) Goth is for fat chicks and guys who like maryalin manson, emo (They must be hung by their entrails!) are people that always think there is something wrong with them or they are happy. emo-emotional.
