Basically, from what I understand of the 4th panel, he's saying that it's ok to kill it, since it's done with the same animalistic impulse that a spider would act on. Plus, it was a shitty spider.

Its not real pain like we understand it. They can think but not in the same capacity as us, much like they can feel pain but not in the same capacity as us. Emotional pain is what they lack, so when they feel pain it isnt an emotion, just a response. I still wouldnt condone squishing bugs because we need them to maintain ecosystems.
