I love this rendition of superman! He looks so lovable, but also so... well, do-gooder-ish. You probably know what I mean. XD
It reminds me a little bit of robot boy, but a lot less anime-ish. Great work! ^^

That's the spirit! I wish I were that patient. I get paranoid when only my boyfriend/best friend comment on my stuff. But this is just Deviantart, it's not like it's the whole world ignoring my works. ^^'

I adore jeans and t-shirt Superman!!!!
But makes sense he would evolve into the suit (ceremonial armor) I love how Jim Lee does him in the new suit.

I definitely prefer your Supes and he will always be my favorite DC hero, but I will always hold onto good ol' boy Clark Kent haha.

It makes him look so much more amicable/approachable. I mean, with the other one he looks so prissy. I would run up and give him a hug if he looked like this. XD

Nah, it's alright for younger Superman, or it would be good for a "period piece" story, with Superman set in 30's and 40's, but I don't think it has the right stature for a modern day Superman. Although I admit I don't really like the new official Superman costume that much, either. I don't know why they think Superman needs to be wearing body armor.

eh i think it goes a long way in making him more relatable and fits his everyday guy with amazing abilities thing. sells him as clark and superman at the same time. a modern take on superman doesn't need tights. tights were amazing in the 30's cause well no-one had done it before. he had to stand out from all the clothes wearing pulp heroes. now to standout he wears a basic outfit. the s-symbol, the cape, and colors will always be iconic. superman is the ultimate blue collar hero, and the jeans and shirt sell it.
as for the new armor. it's a ceremonial/coming of age kryptonian thing. so it makes sense storywise but makes him come off more alien like. which hurts the relatability factor.

Well, see, I just disagree with that characterization of Superman. Spider-Man is the "everyday guy with amazing abilities." He's us. He's the one we should all relate to. Even with his origin. When he first got his powers, his first thought was to use them to make money and become a celebrity, like most of us would do. Until he learned how selfish that was.
Superman, on the other hand, is an alien from another world. He's not an everyday guy. We're not supposed to relate to him, we're suppose to be inspired buy him. He's who we should look up to. So he should have an iconic-like appearance.
And I know the new story explanation for the armor, I just think it's stupid. He's already invulnerable, he doesn't need armor. The little shields all across the body are distracting, and I don't like the high-collar either.
Just my opinion.

i feel ya but that notion you have about spiderman comes from superman. read his first apperance in 1938 and you'll see supes was the man dedicated to defend guys like peter. an everyday guy who just happens to be more powerful than a locomotive. grant morrison did a fantastic job of showing this in action comics #6, during a flashback, where pa kent explains to clark that since he's been blessed with all that power he should look out for the little guy. but regardless all superheroes thematically come from him dude, including batman. it's all there in his original run.
also i don't relate to spidey in that way, and not all people would try something selfish before doing something good. some people are good for the sake of being good, like superman.
and you're right we are supposed to look up to him. but you don't look up to people you can't relate to. the 2 go hand in hand. and like i said before the jeans and cape in a world of tights is iconic now.
and he doesn't need armor but since the story explanation is that it's ceremonial then they're playing up his alien heritage more than the armor. i like the idea, just not so much the look but in time it will probably grow on me.

Well, to each his own. It just doesn't work for me. And I've been hugely underwhelmed by the Superman relaunch, so far, especially Morrison's Action Comics, but that's because I had higher expectations from him, especially after All Star Superman. I've decided to drop both titles after the last issues of each series.
