the Coptic church is a Christian denomination that split off from the Eastern Orthodox church in Alexandria Egypt following the Council of Chalcedon and the schism that resulted from it as part of a faction known as the Miaphysites that led to the existence of Oriental Orthodoxy. the Coptic cross resembles the Christian cross but with three points on each end. the Patriarch of the Coptic church can also be known as pope and that person today is Tawadros II
