I think we had just watched Who Framed Roger Rabbit, as a sort of P.S. to our Disney movie marathon, and then I did this quick sketch. Such a bizarre couple, but they work somehow. I also rarely draw Jessica Rabbit, mostly because people are gross about her. She's not bad, people. She's just drawn that way.

Yeah... it's a shame that Jessica can be drawn in the most overly sexual ways possible around here. I mean, she is truly a beautiful woman, but she's more than just appearance; she's got soul, brains, and a heart for her husband. Her devotion to Roger is so sincere and so sweet that it's believable to see her with Roger, and vice versa.Β

Their quirky relationship, I feel, is a totally healthy one because even though they did have obstacles to overcome in the movie, they never saw each other as villains or anything and did what they could only do to help one another in the grand scheme of things. Love like that is a truly precious gem that they share.

But back to the drawing, LOL, this is a very nice sketch you've done here. I love their body language: Roger, the upbeat dreamer is so in love with his sultry and down-to-earth wife Jessica. It's a simple but powerful sketch. Well done!

Agreed on all counts! Β And thanks. Β I've always thought it would be fun to color this one.

Yep, they're definitely a quirky couple. But they're sweet too

And thank you for drawing Jessica in a non-overly-sexual way. I mean, she is sexy but you're right: "she's not bad, she's just drawn that way"

For sure!Β  They just work for some reason.Β  And you are most welcome!Β  I know Jessica's obviously very va-va-voom, but I don't think you need to do much more to make her look as sexy as her character is than to draw her just as she is.Β  She's not a tramp!Β  She just happens to be a sensual, curvy wife of a star.

I never understood how that relationship happened...lol at least it's (hopefully) based on Roger's personality

Yeah, like many cartoons you just have to go with it, ha ha. She did say she loves him because he makes her laugh, which is all important after all.

Oh how I love that movie!!! 1) because the history (even in a fictitious world that still represents pre 1960's LA) is interesting 2) I love the old cartoons.

Yeah, it has a lot of interesting aspects.

Especially the fact that they got mel blanc to do some of the voice acting (or at least I think they got him to do it, I cannot remember the facts correctly). But the animation for it was great.

yeah, the way the filmed/ put together the scenes where the cartoons and the people interact is mind boggling.

late 80's wasn't it. I remember watching a behind the scenes thing about it, they had to really innovative when it came to the effects, especially the toon town ones.
