No man dies for what he knows to be true. Men die for what they want to be true, for what some terror in their hearts tells them is not true.” -Oscar WildeI thought the quote was fitting because it changed Iroh's view on the war, believing that the war was pointless after his son's death.
I always thought that Iroh's son Liu Ten, died because Koh stole his face, but now after seeing "Zuko Alone" I think he died in the war and Iroh went to the spirit world to get him back. And then I think Iroh and his son did something similar like that greek myth where a man goes to the underworld to get his love and he couln't turn around to make sure she was their until they reached out of the cave but he does turn around a loses her forever. And then Koh steals the face of the son's spirit.
Please ignore the funky perspective.
I know that I said I would post the Tophang but I dunno I felt like color this. Poor Iroh give the man a hug!

good job setting up the emotion, the only advice i would have for you is to try to slump Lu Ten's body a little more, it looks a bit like he's sitting up himself

Me too, even though I don't know off the top of my head the story of Orpheus. Though that's what I was thinking without ever having heard the Greek story.

Well Orpheus fell in love with Euridice (sp?) and then she died tragically. He went into the Underworld to bring her back and he did some sort of musical thing or another (i dont remember if he played an instrument or sang) and Hades and Persephone were touched and said he could have her back if he promised not to look back at the girl until he was out of the Underworld. Unfortunately he looked back at the last minute just to make sure she was there and then she died and stayed dead and he had to go back into the real world and not rejoin her until his own death. I think something similar happened to Iroh with Lu Ten

Koh has Lu Ten's face? I'm going to have to look at that episode again! I have the same two ideas as you that 1) Iroh's tired of the war after Lu Ten's death and 2) He went to the Spirit World for Lu Ten's soul. If the 2nd one did happen, I sure hope they do an episode or at least a part of an episode of Iroh's journey. Hmm..Talking about Iroh's son makes me wonder about Iroh's wife.

You saw Tales of Ba Sing Se, right? They showed Lu Ten's face during Iroh's story. So sad, but it's nice they turned it into a tribute to Mako, as well.

Oh, and this is one of my pet peeves, Iroh's son's name is spelt Lu Ten, no I and he did die in the war. He died in the Siege of Ba Sing Se. And one more question. Do you think Lu Ten is a firebender or a warrior? I love the picture.
