Eek, I've been reading too much shōjo, the style is rubbing off on me. Would ya lookit those eyes!
[TLDR]
Majin Tantei Nōgami Neuro (Private Evil-Eye Nōgami Neuro) is basically it's a manga about Neuro, a demon who eats puzzles, he came to the human world because all of hell's puzzles were bland and boring. Here he hi-jacks school girl Yako and forces her to pretend to be a private detective and take the credit while he goes around solving then eating murder mysteries. Another favorite pass-time of his is tormenting the poor girl.

The original style of this manga isn't shōjo, far from it but while I do l.o.v.e. Matsuei Yuusei's original work I recently baught some MTNN doujin's in this style and they are absolutely crack. (Even if I can't read them ;A; need japanese translator plzthx!)

I guess I'm not the only one who has been catching up on the some manga. ;] Did you read this at a scanlation site, by any chance? Like Onemanga or Mangafox? The premise definitely sounds like something quirky I would read. Maybe I will. >B]
You know, even though I'm VERY rusty, having not done critiques in an eternity let alone as of late, this definitely caught my eye from your other work (which I'm glad to say you updated, dear! *_*). Not because of the manga or cartoony elements in it, but just overall. It's much softer than your other peices too, since I suppose the style is influenced by the shoujo edge, like the faded shadow in certain areas on the clothing.
And the girl's eyes. I may not be attracted to the female gender, but MAN they captivate me like no other, at least not in the longest time. Just the way you colored it makes it looked so unnaturally textured. Now, before you look at me and cry, I meant this in a positive way! I have seen time and time again realistic renders of eyes, down to every last speck of color, layer and glare to the simplest liquidy cell-shaded cartoon one, and depending on the style, can go both ways. However, it is so RARE to see eyes textured in a rough way. When I see them, they look like shards of glass coming together, as if I could feel the jagged ends if I were to just touch my monitor similar to a cut gemstone, in a sense... That and because of this attribute it emphasizes the face and silliness which I love dearly.
Hmmm... As always, as DinKelion said, your lineart is so ridiculously clean. And yet, it isn't completely smooth and controlled, although because of this is really adds to the style, such as the girls bony wrists as well as that man's delicious claws. It adds to the overall unique quality, rather than a completely perfect, "utopian" style, you know? Yet, it still retains that "finished" appeal because of the clean coloring. Not a dash of color out of those lines! Such control! ;]

OMGOMG you must read Neuro! It is delectibly quirky. <3 And it doesn't take itself so seriously as other mystery stories. [link] And yes as you can see I did read it at Onemanga, I am slowly but steadily making my way through their library. Onemanga's the best thing that's happened to me in a long time xD Is that where you've been reading manga as well?
Like I said the style of the art isn't shojo and it looks almost amitureish but don't be fooled it's really not. The mangaka is very talented. In one chapter he drew all the car parts from a car that was taken apart layed out on the ground and this wasn't necessarily important to the chapter it was just background, it was at then that I realised just how much attention is really played to detail. So when at times some perspective of something is off I know it's just the intended style, and I love it, it's really grown on me.

But I am glad you liked it. XP You saying that the eyes are like shards of glass, I'm never gonna forget that cause I think it's really a beautiful description of it and looking at it now it's an effect I'd definatly aspire to achieve again if applying this style to later art.

Yep, I was introduced to Onemanga by a friend of mine, and right now I'm only using it to keep tabs on xxxHolic and Tsubasa until they are finished with them. Oh, I also go to Mangafox, because they have some other series that Onemanga doesn't.
D8 I would never flame you anyway! I can be a tough critic though, so watch out. I loved this picture of yours though. It's one of my favorites. Yes, you should go for those eyes again. They really do like shards of glass or even cut gemstones. Just fantastic!

I don't know this manga, but hellz I love your art <3 Have you realized how stylized your art has become?? It's so slick and has this constant warm/fitting colors all the way to the lineart.
My favorite thing about this picture is the bony wrist, the eyes, and both of their smiles. Pure awesomeness. 8D

Well this manga does not exist on US soil because .. I don't know why .. the industry is full of dumb fucks. It should be translated but it isn't
