My original D&D character, Jillian (the blonde girl), and 's character, Lai.

Jillian's a mermaid, but only develops fins when she comes in contact with water - [link] She was sold into slavery at a young age, being forced into working at a bath house/brothel type place. She played the violin, sang, and served as an "entertainer", but was also something of a prostitute. Eventually, she escaped with the help of a friend, and when they were leaving town, they stumbled across Lai, who had just been dumped off in the middle of nowhere ...

Lai was also somewhat of a servant. The woman who owned him put a collar on him that restricted all of his emotions. During a battle, his collar got shattered and broke off, and he started regaining a personality little by little.

These two started out as really good friends, and then developed into a romantic relationship after Lai's emotions started returning.
