I know it's the wrong time of season... however, I want to try to complete a calendar of pin ups and when I started this one I realized that the pose would be perfect for the month of October.Again, I used references off of Google for this.
Second in my pin-up series.

I am not ashamed to use references x) At least I change it up a bit. >_> Hopefully in the future when I get good enough with the anatomy I won't have to use references anymore.

To be honest I am pen pals with a few comic book artists. Everyone uses reference. Hell I remember a video with Stan Lee (creater of huge titles like spiderman and etc) he talked about he had a library in his art room. Just crammed full of reference pictures. He suggested everyone take a camera with them. Which of course is outdated since the internet came around. I tried not to for the longest time but I think as long as you can show where you got the image from its ok.
You send anyone to me who gives you hell, I will give them a verbal smack down lol. Using refernces isnt the same as copying though.....so many people get that wrong though.
And after seeing your image and the ref image, its more of you just used the pose, You changed it so much I wouldnt even call it using a reference lol. I could prolly google "touch your toes" and get more images lol.
I think your to that point already then by the looks of it.

Thanks, I definitely appreciate your input! I know right now there is just so much drama about using references as opposed to straight up tracing... so it can be scary to site references sometimes because people seem to be out there to sabotage other artists... even if the artist really is just using references and not tracing. Which is one reason I really try to put effort into making my picture not resemble the reference picture too closely.
