I suck at titles. More GNG fanart. I realize that there aren't many fans of this out there, but I am one of them so deal.John (the german shepherd) is supposed to be Gin (the akita)'s best friend. But every time we see them together, the moments are so serious and focused on other stuff that we don't get to see much of their friendship. I wanted to draw a moment where we might get to see it. So I drew them sort of running and scuffling. It's teenage Gin with (obviously) adult John. For the dogs' markings (since they're different in GNG, GDW and both mangas), I borrowed what I liked from each and sort of crossed them. For the style, I mixed a little of GNG's with GDW's and my own. I liked the result. The only thing I don't like is the background, as usual. Oh well.

Whoa,thank you for this amazing pic!And I agree with you,there`s too little GinxJohn moments.The only real one must have been their goodbye before Gin left with the pack in GNG.I wish they would have showed their friendship more,like with Weed and Jerome.And really,they could have shown too how Gin reacted when he found out John was dead

I like GNG the anime, but they don't have any english dubs of them... oh well, great picture, either way.

I love this anime! This picture is really cute, I think it would be better if the anime would be longer ( maybe hour longer...? ) and so the dogs could do more things than fight and run ( well ofcourse we need fighting and running ) and they could have more time to make deeper relationships with each others and explain some things better. Dunno.

Well, I agree with FlannMoriath, so I don't have much to say. But this work is stunning, and very delicate somehow. Maybe it's because of the atmosphere or the beautiful coloring, I dunno, sure like it though. Thanks for doing this. ^^

I really love this picture. ^^ It's great getting to see the more playful side of both Gin and John, and awesome to see more of their interactions! You have a great sense of motion, and BEAUTIFUL lineart.
I have a few suggestions for backgrounds, since they seem to be hard for a lot of people. I think, the mistake many people make, is to do a background as an afterthought. I do my backgrounds (or at least color them) before I color the subject. That way, you ensure more time will be spent on the background because you aren't thinking "as soon as this frustrating background is done, I can post this and get feedback on the IMPORTANT part of the picture." Doing the background first also lets you choose color tones accordingly, say, in a night scene. Anyway, I think it looks best when the background is in the same style as the subject. Here, your subjects are (beautifully) outlined, the snow is also outlined, but the trees are in a completely different style. What I would suggest, if you were to do this picture again, would be to outline the trees, then outline the snow on them. The use of the smudge brush here looks like you were trying to give them a semi-realistic look, when the rest of the picture is cartoony. The snowbanks' outlines look hastily done, and not as smooth as the characters' outlines. So my main suggestion I guess would be to do the background first, and spend loads of time on it, because the background is what sets the mood and tone of the picture.
Hope that helped!! ^^ I really do love this picture - the background indicates that this scene takes place after the defeat of Akakabuto, which puts a new spin on things (as opposed to no background). This way, you see what the leader of Ou does in his spare time. ^^

Dude, your comments have been SO helpful. I love when people will pick apart my work like this (without bein' jerks) and give me details about what makes it good AND bad. You are so right about the background thing, too. Dead on. "as soon as this frustrating background is done, I can post this and get feedback on the IMPORTANT part of the picture." That is exactly what I'm thinking when I'm working on a BG most of the time. I'll try to remember to do the background first this time. I just get so excited about doing the characters, as they are obviously my favorite part. 
I'm really enjoying doing Ginga fanart. I've even done three sculptures so far (but had no way to photograph them). I might sell 'em if they're good enough...but I ramble. Got any suggestions for who to draw next?

Hmmmmm... well since you've already drawn John and Gin, I'd probably suggest you draw Riki next! He's one of my all time favorite characters, and I'd love to see what you can do with him!
