The term "time" has many definitions, but none seems to grasp its essence all too well.

The reason for that is that there are two distincly different ways in which time can be viewed:
For one, there is the view that time is part of the fundamental structure of the universe, a dimension in which events occur in sequence and thus it can be measured in a scientific (which means objective) way.
Another way to look at time is to see it as part of the fundamental intellectual structure (together with space and number) within which we sequence events, quantify the duration of events and the intervals between them, and compare the motions of objects. In this context, time is all in your mind and cannot be meassured because it is different for every person.

Interpretations of the concept of "time" range from an open view in which everything is possible to the fatalist stand point in which everything in past, present and future is fixed and cannot be changed no matter what man does.

Personally, I tend to see my future wide open - for every door that closes, another opens. The possibilities are endless...

Technical stuff:
I started this manip on Saturday - so you can see it took quite some time
One reason for this was that my PC slowed to a crawl in the end - saving took more than 10 minutes, so did opening the psd (and I had already merged some layers to save time)...
The original resolution is 5000x10660px at 150dpi - so I guess it's my own fault.
