Description Valka was lying down in the shadows, confused, alone, and completely lost. How he had gotten to that particular place he didn't remember. The rather large group of Wraiths had been in Japan, their presence required after the recent disasters- earthquakes, tsunamis, and nuclear scares. With any mission of that magnitude there were risks, and Valka had gone in knowing as much. He'd already died twice, once from his true life, another on a different mission, though he had escaped true death and returned to the Shadowlands. There had been plenty of fighting everywhere, so much that it was hard to get anywhere, much less get anything done, without having to avoid running into a comrade or falling victim to an enemy's attack. Valka had counted several fallen hellhounds, reapers, and even a couple Wraiths as he rushed around, trying to help the lost souls he had been sent to collect. That was when the hellhounds ambushed him. Momentarily distracted as he heard a heart-stopping equine scream caused by the Shinigami, he ran into a particularly nasty hellhound. The next moments were a mass of confusion, the biter stench of blood and hellhound strong in Valka's lungs, ears filled with the sounds of clashing bodies and cries of the wounded, eyes finding it hard to focus on the shady canine attacking him. During those moments, the hellhound landed several nasty attacks on him, bashing into the right side of his face and knocking out a tooth, scratching his neck, jumping onto his back, and shredding one of his hind legs. Valka fought back while he could still move around freely, injuring the hellhound to where the creature would think twice before coming near him next time- if such a time were to exist. Valka was confident the Medics would be able to heal him if he could get back, as long as nothing else got to him before the group departed. Limping, Valka tried to remove himself from the middle of the mass confusion so as to avoid another attack or getting in the way of a fellow Wraith when the hairs along his back stood up and a cool breeze ruffled his mane. Slowly turning his head, a shot a fear went through him as a brush of cold cloth brushed his side and he caught sight of a Reaper. In his current state, Valka would hardly be able to put up much of a fight, but the Reaper had other plans. Before he even knew what happened, he felt an impact to his skull before he dropped out of consciousness.

When Valka awoke, he had a few moments of confusion as the pains in his body became noticeable once again and his mind pieced together the events before his blackout. He opened his eyes to see a place that he didn't recognize, but after the multiple head traumas it was difficult to make out many concrete details. For all he knew it could be a slightly altered version of his father's herd-lands, but he was pretty sure it was a place much sinister. He thought at first that he was alone, but as his senses reawakened at a pace much slower than his consciousness, he knew there were other presences out there, just beyond his view. Waiting, waiting for something. Of what he wasn't sure, but there was a reason that they had him here, rather than simply killing him. Valka attempted to get up, but his legs wouldn't allow as much. Lying back to the shadowed ground, he attempted to go back to sleep, to simply black out of consciousness so he wouldn't have to feel helpless and hopeless. There was but one hope for him, and it was something he had no control over whatsoever.
"The others will come for me- they have to"

Speedpaintish thing (Perhaps two hours at most) of Valka. I got on earlier and saw that Valka had been injured badly enough to get 3 days off duty, then got taken hostage. And, being Spring Break (finally), I have time to actually do artwork that I want to, so I got to draw my purdy Wraith again, even if it is a less-than-happy picture of him. I had no clue where a reaper would take a stolen Wraith, so I just played around until I came up with this

It felt so nice to just draw for fun again- AP Art has just been so stressful lately. I've worked getting those pictures down to a formula, so there is little experimentation or variation to the process. And it's been forever since I've seriously drawn a horse, and I'm surprisingly happy with how he came out (No ref!).

Soul Wraith game and Valka's design~ *orengel
Artwork, about writing, and Valka's character~ =KwehCat

Also- Damn you DA for closing down for maintenence for so long at 3 AM, delaying me posting this picture, thus making me go to bed even later!

I solemnly sweat I am up to no good.
I shall be more active in the Wraith world, from this picture on.
And I have enough points to design a new Wraith now
And I should probably go back to the boards. Although I am terrible at checking back on a thread.
But I love my unlucky Valka so much, it's a crying shame to have him so unused.

Going to sleep now. For real this time.

Also, I blame grammatical (and all other) errors on the time. Just saying.

Valka <3 Still one of the prettiest Wraiths in my eyes xDDD *isa sucker for rabicano*

The story was great - you captured his experience perfectly And I love the background you chose to go along with the picture - it fits really well, and adds to the mood perfectly

Rabicanos are amazing. (Speaking of, I'm about to upload a new rabicano of mine ). I can't thank you enough for designing him for me!

And I'm glad you think so! I regrettably am not too clear on all those little Wraith-World details, so it's good knowing I'm not way off the mark! Thank you!

D'aww, he looks so sad and scared >: RUN AWAY PONY. RUN AWAY. Anyway I love the shading on him, and his mane. The background is...odd and scary Works well with what you've described in the story. I guess my only complaint/critique would be that the rough white edges around him throw me off a little. BUT OTHER THAN THAT HE'S SEXY. And stuff.

You solemnly sweat you're up to no good? That made my day right there.

Poor, poor Val
And I'm sure he would if he could! Damn those hellhounds for injuring him so! And the background is definitely creepy- it kinda reminds me of something out of a Tim Burton movie. And I'll get rid of that fuzziness around him- I guess that's what I get when drawing so late I can hardly keep my eyes open. And apparently the same goes for my spelling Hopefully I'll be able to draw him in all of his handsome rabicano goodness soon!

How on earth do you make your speedpaints so quick
Especially when you can shade black like that! I really like the shading

Poor Valka though

I'm not sure- I guess I just decided to sit down and draw at exactly the right time- and it helped that no one wan on facebook or DA to distract me, and Eli had just gone to sleep and quit reeking havok on the house
I love shading black- I think it is actually one of my best colors to shade, and I've done it so much you learn a few tricks.
Thank you!
And poor, poor, Valka- I don't know what we are supposed to do!

I guess that does help if there aren't any distractions
I guess I'll just have to keep practicing then! I suck at trying to shade black xD

Welcome!
Perhaps try to avoid situations which could end badly?

It is suprising how much can be done if you don't distract yourself! I looked at the clock once I was done and couldn't believe the amount of time this had taken

And you should! It gets really fun after a while

And that is good advice- just advice he has issues following sometimes

This is very true. Just something I appear completely incapable of doing recently XD

I think I might have to have a go! Now to think of something black to draw....

Haha XD

And I'm sure eventually you will be able to do some amazing things on the computer. I used Photoshop CS5 for this, and have been using the PS programs for five years now, so I've had plenty of time to figure out how to use it
