I didn't think Cats 2019 was that bad. I know the plot was real bare, but the songs were good, the backgrounds were lavish, it was funny seeing the cats interact with big human objects, and they looked less creepy when they had clothes on.
Mistofolees was my fav, with his trying to help Victoria out, and needing confidence to make his magic work to save the old cat.
And no, I ain't seen the original play. Sorry.
