Well this only sat in my scetchbook for five months and then unfinished on ps for about...a month and half.Yes I founded my own procrastinators club...we meet tomorrow, and the next day.
So um...history. Still to this day I go through hell trying to get Keraph's expressions down. I think it might be impossible...Within the hundreds of attempts I've done...the only times I have gotten close is this picture here...and my avatar....
as pathetic as that is
So naturally I was ecstatic when i managed to pull this off. And it fit the title so nicely...I'm actually pretty sure it was drawn for this number anyways....
So yup...Keraph and his quirky crooked grin. My submition for number fourteen, smile on my hundred list.

I haven't been summitting lately due entirely to the fact that I've been writing my ass off. Ninth Wave (Ker's story...yes i changed the name from what it was before) is now at 90 fricken chapters! *grin*
That...and I figured if I ever wanted any kind of future in character design I'd better get my ass in gear and buckle down. If I don't make myself, I don't do squat...

You have such a vivid idea of your character's looks--I'm still debating mine! XD
So, are you going to post your story? At first, I wasn't going to even DREAM of posting mine--I'm too protective of my writing--but my friend finally nagged me into it. So now, my intro is just sitting there, just bare and... *shivers*.
Anyway, that's a really nice picture--and I think Keraph's smile contains so much personality! I love his facial expression--that alone should be faved.

Thanks for that, I'm pretty proud that my charactes actually have...um...facial features and expressions like that...sometimes that's what makes the character.
I know what you mean about the story, but I doubt I'll post it anytime soon. One time, I posted a single paragraph of a writing blog to tell a bit of story behind one of my pictures...and one person jumped all over it, pretty much hacked it to peices and it was only 1 paragraph. So...since then I've been hesitant. People have a really strict way about how writing should be...and everyone's is different. So we'll see...maybe one day I'll be brave enough...

There will always be people that seem to have this "THIS IS HOW WRITING SHOULD BE FOOLS!!" personality--I tend to dislike those people. Technically, writing has no "rules"--although adhering to 'them' tends to make your writing 'better'. Actually, most of the time it isn't even about characterization or plot, it just seems to be a thing about taste. One person might like fantasy, another might detest it--and for some reason it doesn't matter how good your book is. The thing is, I wanted comments so I could make my writing better, and I posted. I can't be a (hopefully) published writer if I don't try to market myself and take the smart critique with the idiotic.

NO--I use sentence fragments like they were forks! Who would rag someone over that?! I've been attacked for semicolon use and paragraph breaks--but never sentence fragments. They capture attention and set the mood a lot better than a footnote at the end of a paragraph at the bottom of the page.
But...
That's people for you.
I understand if you don't want to post your story anytime soon--but I'll be glad to read when you finally do!

I really like this and the character design. I would love to read your story, but I understand your hesitation to post it--after all, you've probably worked for Lord knows how long on it. Ever thought about seeking it to be published ^_^? That would be interesting.

Well there' s a really nasty, bitter side of me that wants to say, it's cuz he has expression. But I only say that becuase it seems like...people come up with characters...but their faces are all the same, only the hair eyes and clothing has changed...and i think a true character is exprssed in it's face...but i try my best not to be cynical, XD

I'm trying to widen my idea of what's "good" and "bad". There's a lot of stuff that gets on dA's front page that I'd consider "bad"...and a lot of stuff my friends draw that I might have once considered "bad" but now consider "good" because I'm familiar with their unique art styles and their limits. It's not about if they got the anatomy right, the colors match...it's the effort put in to create it.

quick back story...wow. *thinks* um...okay there are 6 spirits, keraph is the water spirit. when they were born they were given their own destinies. Keraph's was that he would endure the pain of the other 5 spirits. And one of the destinies given was that only one of the spirits would actually do as 'god/great spirit' told them...and that was to stop killing humans and learn that they are not gods overpowering mortals. so in sort of a prophecy, there is a great dog born from a human heart and only she can find this paradise that the great spirit promised. also, as punishment for killing humans, great spirit curses each of them with a human sin trial where each of them is overtaken for a short period of time by an alter ego controlled by one of the 7 deadly sins. okay, basic back story done
so 100 000 years later, keraph is having one hell of a time with his endure all pain destiny thing that was given to him. His sin finally overtakes him, which turns out to be Avarice, does a crap load of damage, angers another spirit who, not realizign that it was avarice and not keraph in control, banished him and ker lost all his spirit abilities and is cursed further. he gets it in his head the if he found the sacred dog, and fulfilled that destiny instead as no one had yet even bothered looking for the dog, that he could trade off his painfull sin. so he meets this random human girl, hauls her back to spirit world with him and starts trying to train her to become the sacred dog.
and that's the basics, the story is basically keraph trying to find the dog to find paradise so that the spirit world doesn't die off and so he can trade his pain away, oh yeah and get his spirit status back.
and actually its funny you mention that guy cuz i watched something he did and thought to myself that there was a ressemblance...^^ sorry this is so long

Lol well it wasn't so much attempting something that big as it just kinda kept building ideas onto itself till it became this monstrosity of a plot...XD and i'm sure ill finish it, cuz most of the hard parts to fill in are over
and for the romance thing, it's wierd cuz keraph doesn't have a heart, instead he has a stone that powers his spirit force, and this is what was taken away from him when he was banished. so he can't feel love, its a rule for immortals because being able to love and live forever wouldn't be barable for anyone. so you might say their relationship is interesting...

What I like about this character the most is his smile. It's definitely one of his defining features, in my opinion.

Gotta love that smirk! Fits so well with that hair and his expression. So I'd certainly say "Mission: Accomplished!" for this one.
Only thing that catches my eye is the left thigh seems a bit large, but no biggy. I'm really liking the weathered look of the armor on the gauntlets, and the shredded pant legs adds even more to his character.
