Description
Located in the heart of the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area, the Multnomah Falls Lodge was built in 1925.In the background, the 620ft waterfall plumets from Larch mountain. It is the second highest year-round waterfall in the nation.

This place is about 3 hours from where I live, and I have visited it many times. Autumn is my favorite, with all the colors and the moody atmosphere. I hope you get to go there sometime.

I almost wish that there was a break in the trees to get a full-on view of the waterfall and possibly the bridge... but that's not exactly something we can fix! I think I want to live there... FOREVER. It's so beautiful, I love the coloring.

Paula, it is a truly spectacular setting. The way the natureβs grandiose is juxtaposed with the inviting glow and warmth of the domestic, artificial and yet so seemingly synergic airs of the lodge is sublime. Looks like a longish exposure shot which imparted magic onto the lantern. A very endearing self-portrait as well. Best of luck. (Do not smoke

Very warm and cozy looking.. don't think I've ever seen it that way.
So of course now I'll be forced to go out there when autumn hits! (I usually do that anyway, but still!)

This is beautiful. I wish I could have been there during fall. Unfortunately I was there in late November so the scenery wasn't nearly as beautiful as it is here. And how in the world did you get such a great shot without any tourists cars in the forefront? When I was there it was overrun...

This was taken in early November, so you didn't miss it by much. As for the lack of tourists, it was getting dark and it was raining so the people were pretty much on their way out. I just stood in the rain, umbrella over my camera, and waited for people to get out of the way. The opportunities were few and far between, but I managed.

Most of the time when I go there, there are a lot of people. And it's pretty much always windy there. Have you hiked to the top? There's also a loop trail that goes over to Wahkeena Falls. Very nice trail.

I'm too old and asthmatic to hike to the top, unfortunately! I did go up to the bridge and got some good shots there.
