Mainje cringed from the cold. The barren land stretched out in front of them, as vast as the skies it laid under.
Her mother turned to her. The elites face was blank, and the mist from the early morning made it hard to make out the horizon.
"You must be strong Mainje." her mother spoke strongly. "This is your first test you must remember".
Mainje looked up at her, and there eyes touched through the mist. "why mamma? Why do they test us?"
"because, every child must be tested on their strengths. Since you are my daughter, the expectations of your skills are greater then the others."
Mainje's mother was one of the finest elite forces in the Thrisher. Anything less then perfection from her ospring would lead to death.
There was a sudden pause.
Mainje ran up to her mother to shorten the distance, feeling the ancient foot prints beneath her feet. They walked in silence and the mist cleared enough for Mainje to make out the markings on her mothers crown. The engraved symbols covered her horns, while a larger marking laid in the the center of her face. Usually the more symbols, the higher your rank , but every Ayderus gets there forehead symbol while young, which was their destination at the moment. This was Mainje's first symbol she would retrieve, but her test was not over, not until she crossed the barren scape with a family member of the councils choice, her mother.
There was a sudden stop and Mainje almost fell onto her mothers leg. "look!" the elites face was in awe as the sun broke the horizon. Mainje grabbed her mothers leg and slowly looked in the direction of the elites. "wow! Its so pretty!" Mainje could not compress her squeak. The young one looked up at her mother "do you think the others are waiting for us there?"
The elite looked down at her daughter, "there waiting for you, my dear."

I have know idea if I'm a good writer or not, so bear with me

Just a little something I guess this is Mainje's first test as it said before. They are walking the path of life, its a decider on who is worthy to live as an Ayderus if you live, you are given your mark (that they carve into your head, each one is different) Many others have walking in this path (as you can see, the foot prints) but not all make it

Oh! and what Mainje means when she says "her mothers crown" that just refers to there horns/top of the head.
