Laguna is a simple fisherman living with his old mom in a small house near the port. His father, who was also a water-bending fisherman, taught him everything he knows about fishing. When he passed on, he took it upon himself to continue his work. It was a decent means of living, and he finds a sense of accomplishment in every catch. He has developed a routine for his everyday life, and he grows bored of it sometimes. After a long hard day at work, he likes to walk around town, go take a swim, or go to the bar for a good drink.

- One of his childhood dreams was to be a pro-bender.
- He hides his small injuries and scars behind the bandages.
- He practices his water bending while he fishes or cooks meals. He likes to play with water during his baths because he is still a child.

"Heeehhh.... another long day. Man... wonder where the fish went." Laguna was sitting in his boat, the fishing rod propped up against the edge right beside him. He was staring at the fishing line, hoping for any signs of movement. The net was beside him, ready when he needed it. But it seems it was going to have to sit beside him for a long while.

He became bored of waiting, and he lifted his hand slowly. In tune to his movement, the surface of the water lifted up, and a small string of water detached itself from the surface. He moved his fingers about, trying to move the water, making abstract shapes and patterns. In his boredom, he ended up trying to write his name with the water as if it were a pen. When he grew tired of having fun this way, he quickly dropped his hand, and the stream of water he was manipulating fell back to the water surface quicker than it came.
