Description Great humility fills me,
great purity fills me,
I make love with my dear
as if I made love dying
as if I made love praying,
tears pour
over my arms and his arms.
I don't know whether this is joy
or sadness, I don't understand
what I feel, I'm crying,
I'm crying, it's humility
as if I were dead,
gratitude, I thank you, my fate,
I'm unworthy, how beautiful
my life.

-Poem by Anna Swir
_________

When sky blue eyes entered his life, everything changed.

He was once a stranger to emotion, devoid of any sensation. Treasures such as love, warmth and delight weren't know to him, for he lived in a noiseless abyss. There weren't any melodies before the arrival of sky blue eyes. The world was a vast chasm, filled with only the silence of a chained heart.

Breathing without a name, he knew only the icy darkness. Blue zephyrs revealed the blank pages of his heart, brushing the edges of those pages with golden dust. Aspirations were share between a hopeful heart and a nervous soul, the latter being filled with apprehension towards the future. The sky blue liberator joined SOLDIER, while his charge was left to Shinra's average ranks. However, despite their differences in rank, their hearts fused. Blue feathers rescued a lonely canary, and happiness was cast onto flowery fields.

Time passed, slowly but surely. Two hearts were set on different paths, without realizing they'd rediscover each other. The owner of sky blue magnificence returned to the canary's life, vowing to keep him from harm. And throughout the birth of their memories, they explored each other. Cloud learned all that he could from Zack, and his mentor was more than eager to share wisdom. Their world was a foreign void, but Zack's presence was comforting. That presence pulled Cloud through a thousand leagues of pain.

A great deal of time passed before dreams were ground to a halt. A shivering blonde awaited the future in a corner, nestled safely in the shadows. Despite his security, though, his hearts was on pins and needles. Zack was ebbing away, strolling into something that would most likely kill him. Men were lying in wait, the Fair wanted to keep him safe...

And the Strife's heart wouldn't stop screaming.

He wanted to keep Zack safe, just as the Fair had kept him safe. Zack had done everything in his power to keep his charge well, even risking his own health. At that very moment, he was plunging into a vortex he most likely wouldn't escape from. And that fact smashed Cloud's heart into countless pieces. It was difficult to move, difficult to breathe, his guardian was strolling headfirst into peril-

He had to move. He had to do something! Men were on the move, guns at the ready. Clouds were dominating the heavens, rounds were fired off-

Zack was in the middle of it all, working to protect him. The two of them were meant to take a journey together, but their path was covered in turmoil. Zack had cast him aside, in favor of security, and-

Bullets riddled his ears. His arms and legs were akin to lead, but he had to move. He had to get up, or else he'd lose the anchor of his life! He'd lose the one that had given him so many smiles, so much time-so much love-

There. He was up on his feet. Breathing was almost impossible, but he had to bypass the air's poison. His legs were lead as he willed them to move, mind focused on the unseen turmoil. Gunfire throttled his eardrums, Zack's smile was infinitely bright, and silver fire welled up inside of him. He couldn't understand if the flames were from Materia, or from another source, but they were there. Propelling him towards his guardian. Pushing him deeper into the fray.

Gunfire laced his ears, but not a single bullet struck home. Deeper into the fire he was cast, led into wildflame by inner light. Shiva's graceful valor pushed him on, shielding him from death. And that valor, that strength and beauty, protected him as he stood before hundreds. On his own two feet he stood, protecting his greatest source of life. His greatest source of love.

He opened his mouth, but not a single word was delivered. A resounding cry struck the silvery heavens, followed by a massive wave of silver light. A wave flushed away hundreds of lives, and in mere moments, two souls were left alone. Carriers of rain swallowed Heaven, watching as the Strife rushed to his fallen savior. Panting as a dehydrated animal, but ignoring his own pain, he knelt beside the fallen Fair.

Pain was resonant. Waves burned him, scorched him, and threatened to purge his body of life. His sole source of life, however, received all of his attention. Gingerly he caressed a bloodied face, searching for any signs of activity. Hoping for the sunrise. Awaiting the delivery of a familiar, warm voice.

"Don't do this to me. Don't do this to me! You told me we were going to Midgar! Don't do this to me!"

The art of speaking was a strange, bizarre art. His voice was hoarse, coming from a source he couldn't really identify. But he spoke. He willed himself to speak. His heart was torn open, and words spilled forth. "Don't leave me," he whispered, words laced in tears. "Don't leave me. Don't leave me."

So much had happened. So much had been torn apart, but Zack remained strong. Zack's warm spirit remained intact, stronger than the fortresses built against storms. "Don't leave me," the Strife continued to whisper, for those were the only words he knew. Everything else had been cast into oblivion, save for Zack's smile.

"Don't leave me. Don't leave me."

He laid his head against the Fair's chest, unwittingly wrapping his body in a soft light. Silvery flames enveloped the Fair's body as two became one. "Don't leave me," a tearful young heart whispered, beating against a silent flame.

Slowly, arms were wrapped around Cloud's body. The only words he had bothered to speak in epochs resonanted, meeting a heart that could not speak. And as two hearts danced to the rhythm of silent time, azure flames welcomed them. They were cast into the realm of unconsciousness, wrapped up in light that would forever heal.

Five minutes passed. Diamonds draped over two sleeping souls, both of which were cleansed of wounds.

While I do love the end of Crisis Core, I can appreciate rewrites and interpretations. This was just beautiful ; w ; I had some tears at the end of it.

I send you billions of hugs. ^^ I too love the original end of Crisis Core, but I'm not really a fan of sad endings. Zack's end, in particular, is not one of my favorite endings. So I decided to use my rabi yaoi fangirl powers to create a happier ending. ^^

Thank you for reading, awkward person!

You right some good FFVII works, my friend. I'm convinced that aside from RE, this section seems to be your strongest niche. MGS is another one but you do really well with the prior two also. You should write FFVII more often.

#zackxcloud-fanclub - Here's a club for you that might be interested in accepting this.

Considering Zack led a very sad life, I'll be staying at his house for quite a while.

Even as I write this, I'm watching Zack tributes and Crisis Core cutscenes. I'm amazed by how all of Zack's colleagues thought of themselves as monsters, and compared all of them to Old Snake. Leon stole the spotlight in my most recent post, but with the way life's going, who knows? Perhaps Snake will cheer Zack up soon. And Cloud's going to bring Zack up in 'Firefly Field'.

I'm not too much into the OG FFVII, but Zack's story has stolen my heart. Keripes, I'm just head over heels in love with Zack. As always, I wish you nothing but warm skies and sunny smiles.

So he's going to join your family of Snake, Chris, Leon and Snow, huh? ;D

I liked the cutscenes in Crisis Core, my favorite one was with Zack when he confronted Genesis with Seph in the Nibleheim reactor. Everyone was awesome in that scene. If Seph, Angeal, etc thought of themselves as monsters, why not try paring them up with Old Snake? *wink**wink* I noticed and I'll review it in a second.

I never really paid too much attention to Zack's story actually. Cloud's, Sephiroth's and Tifa's were usually the ones that stole my attention. I need to re look over it so I'll get a better idea for you fic.

I never had the slightest clue on Zack's tragedies until yesterday, when I first discovered the power of YouTube. Thanks to someone's tireless efforts to post cutscenes, I discovered the downfall of Zack's life. Sure, he had a perfectly happy start, but everything spiraled out of control. His mentor went AWOL, Genesis was heartbroken over his creation, he took his frustration out on Sephiroth, who then turned berserk-it's all just a complete and utter mess!

I'll be sure to work my dearie Snake into Zack's world. I am at this very moment, as a matter of fact!

Ah, Youtube! Always there to fill us with enlightenment. XD It was a tragic ending in Crisis Core, it was almost on par with the ending of Snake Eater. Angeal's death was also pretty sad. I hate Genesis and wished Sephiroth would kill him but then that would stop him from becoming the bad-ass villain I know today. Yeah, Zack's life pretty much went to hell.

Really? Care to share any details with your old friend or is it classified?

Oh yeah! Sure! I'd LOVE to share details with you, but here's the thing. See, everything's just going to fly off the handle. I just saw Angeal's downfall/death, so I can tell you Zack's not going to be thrilled with Angeal's fate in 'Angels', but that's all you're getting. So just expect more of Leon's frustration, Reno's frustration, Zack's heartache and the world's destruction.

Hrmm. I should have something happen to Reno, but that would be kinda mean. Especially to poor Leon. (wails)

Everything's going to make just as much sense as the Babylon Epoch and the Belial Order, so it'll be interesting for me to see how Angels will pan out! ^^

I'll have to watch the ending of Snake Eater. In the meantime, anything you'd like to share with lil' ol MOI?

Luff, Achi

I'm getting the idea that the next chapter will be angst filled terribleness (in a good way of course! ) with mourning and frustration. Okay, I'll watch out for it and not let you spoil it. I say something not so terrible happens with Reno for Rude's side of the two's partnership. It can work out.

It'll be interesting for me when those plans of yours become reality! No need to look for the ending, I have it here for you! Unfortunately, I have nothing to share yet.

Hope you cry! (In other words, enjoy these cutscenes despite their sadness. XD)
